Got an email; just use same link (copy it into URL and then edit and change to "3161").. I wouldn't use 3160 if I were you.     if so, please report to us any issues.  My $.02 says you'll find one or two.

When I try that link and change it to 3161 as you suggest, it asks me for a Username and Password. Did you get that?

yes, same username and pwd as you used with 3160.  If you didn't get one, then ping Sonic.

Oops... I forgot the username/pw was right there in the previous email.

Thanks for the reminder.

I've been playing with Amarra for a few weeks and I like the sound compared to itunes. Has anyone tried turning the volume up on itunes while Amarra is running? Very interesting results...

Why would you want to do that? They specifically tell you not to do that. Amarra plays like one second behind itunes so you get like a reverb or echo sound. There is a reason that Amarra turns the volume off in itunes.

have you tried it? they don't like play one second behind each other. choose a song from itunes and toggle the itunes volume up and down until you get the desired effect. if you start and stop it it will create a delay between the two programs...it does create an effect like reverb or delay but only a minnor one. it's all about experimenting

Have you tried manually setting the wrong resolution for iTunes, then playing Amarra?  it plays real slow...a cool effect.  :)

Just kidding.  Amarra is not to be played with iTunes volume (at any level) at the same time.  The phase and tonal issues are numerous.  Playing with professional EQ controls is one thing; playing two different music players at the same time and using their time delays and tonal differences is, well, "not recommended?"....  I've spent huge $$ to get rid of these.  I'm not about to add them!

Ha!  I've done both of the above.  Turning the iTunes volume up while using Amarra is really fun after a few !  Reminds me of the old Pioneer car reverb unit in the 70's where the people in the back seat could be listening to a totally different song than those in the front.  Whoa, flashback...  :o

Peace,

Lee

Did you get an email from SS for this one? For some reason, I'm missing the update announcements.  :(

I posted this earlier in this thread.  If you have a supported Amarra license (demo or otherwise) you got an email from Sonic regarding release 1.01 (Crimson posted the text earlier too).  It included a link to zip file 3160 and a username and password.  Just edit that link to say "3161" or "3162" and send it.  Use the same username and password they gave you.  I check every few days.

It is odd though that these Amarra updates exist and the users are not getting mails/messages/memos that they exist. If it wasn't for ted_b's curiousity no one would know they exist. Though maybe these are BETA builds and we shouldn't be using them. It would be cool to know, directly from Sonic, which version should be used. BTW, I have a 30 day demo dongle, running v1.0.1 (3159).

I have the 30 day demo dongle too.  It works with all versions, but as we said here, we think 3160 is one to skip.  I haven't loaded 3162 to see if it's anything new.  Yes, a little more feedback/support would be nice, but at least they are having new builds and working on improving and/or enhancing it.

I'm glad you guys are having fun with the versions.

Just a word of caution! Just because you find a build by trying new numbers, that doesn't mean that build is meant for public consumption.  It could be buggy and crash your system etc.  These are internal builds and are for testing purposes.  Only the builds sent with a link from Sonic or your dealer should be stable (3160 excepted!).

Amarra Mini now released:

http://www.sonicstudio.com/amarra/amarra_mini.html

$395

I wrote to Sonic Studio a few weeks ago and said that if the price dropped to less than $500 that I would likely be a customer.  I'll put my money where my mouth is and put in an order this weekend.

Wilson,
Glad you found it.  Not too $$ bad, huh.  We've been talking about Amarra Mini here for a few pages now.  I posted a couple of tips you might want to try when going from 96k (Mini's maximum resolution) to the higher sample rates , and back.  Enjoy.
