MAD MAX II - The Road Warrior was pretty cool for an early eighties movie that i watched the other night in 5.1.
Easily one of the best chase scenes i have witnessed on film for the last 30 mins or so (and no CGI).  :thumb:

Just got a package from Amazon.  No Country for Old Men and The Friends of Eddie Coyle.  The latter is directed by Peter Yates of Bullitt fame and is the original ensemble crime movie as in different stories running concurrently and no lead actor.  Recent movie The Town made me think of it as it takes place in underworld Boston, too.  I think it may have been Robert Mitchum's last movie.  A diamond in the rough.

Everybody knows Old Country and the Coen brothers.  The first time I saw Javier Bardem was in a movie made in Ecuador and directed by John Malkovich.  His on screen magnetism was evident from the git and when I learned he was going to be in the latest Coes bro's movie, I just knew they had seen it, too.  Good choice, huh.

I always watch it on Groundhog Day. I just love the concept.

I thought it was appropriate with all the snow we are supposed to be getting in the UK overnight to watch 'North Face' tonight, What a brilliant film, extremely tense watching based  on a real story, bearing this in mind I don't know if you could really call it enjoyable as it is pretty harrowing stuff, brilliantly acted and told though.

Highly recommended, especially if you are snowed in tomorrow.

To Have And Have Not - the first pairing of Bogie and Bacall. And yes, it was very good, just like every time I watch it.

D.D.

Just got round to watching Apocalypto, brilliant piece of film making, amazing sets and make up, I have to say that Mel Gibson has got a pretty sick side to him as there is some pretty brutal stuff in here, a bit like his film, The Passion of Christ, which I really didn't like, 8/10 for Apocalypto though.

Just finished watching 'Salt', a little bit underwhelmed tbh, I was expecting more, trying to hard to be a female Bourne, saying that, anything with Angelina Jolie in is worth watching in my book :)

Watched a Couple of OK'ish films over the weekend, The Interpreter, Which I thought was a little disapointing if I'm honest, and Dodgeball, which couldn't have been anymore different really, but I really enjoyed it :)

Just caught an HBO film called  Fatherland. It's a 'what if story' about WW2.

Hall Pass,     Pretty darn funny :thumb:
Midnight in Paris, great movie and sound track, from Woody Allen.
How to Train A Dragon on Blue Ray. I saw this in 3d in Movie theater, but it looks fantastic on Blue Ray. My wife loved this movie as did my 5 year old on her second viewing. :D

Astronaut Farmer - great movie with many awesome themes, which unfortunately seems to be slowly dying out in this day and age.

My mom took me to see Kind Hearts and Coronets when I was in knee pants.  I'm sure that's where I got my love for British comedies.  Good choice.

I know some may say it's too commercial but I just landed a copy of Avatar on Blu-ray and I've gotta say that on my Panny VT25, it is up there with the best in reference standard films.  The visuals were astounding...in 2D, it was virtually 3D.  I gotta say, I liked the movie more now then when I saw it in the theatre.
