Just finished watching X-Men: First Class and I thought it was a very engaging film (for its genre).  Characters were well developed and it wasn't all about explosions and special effects.

If you like comic book movies, I think this is one of the better examples.   :thumb: :thumb:

+1 - own a copy and watched it yesterday, once again.  In the X-men franchise, this is one of the best and I believe it sets us up with a new cast for doing some pre-trilogy films.

I've owned it for over a year now and finally got round to watching it tonight, Iron Man 2, pretty good fun, sounded pretty amazing through the SP3, just recently though I've gone a little cold on the whole super hero genre, I like a little more meat and meaning to my films lately, must be getting old I guess

Watched The Artist. Hugo and The Tree of Life - all 3 were very good - the first 2 made my wife cry and the 3rd was visually very stunning - I loved the first 2 myself - hope Marty gets the award this year and hope that Jean Dujardin also wins as well

Lord of War After watching movies such as these, it makes you sit down and wonder about what is actually going on in this so called civilized world.

Blow Dry with Natasha Richardson, Alan Rickman, Rachel Griffiths, Bill Nighy, Josh Hartnett, Rachel Leigh Cook. Funny and heartwarming.

I watched Drive on the weekend, I thought it was an awesome movie. Ryan Gosling was stellar and the soundtrack was good too.

I just watched Drive, and was fairly blown away by the style, feel and cinematic vision of the film.  I was especially intrigued to see that the Danish director of the Pusher series and the oblique, "metaphysical" viking drama 'Valhalla Rising' had stepped into the Hollywood scene.  After watching it, I fully realized that there were probably a ton of people who hated the movie, esp. since it's marketing probably attracted a crowd of 'Fast & Furious' fans.  Going to Amazon pretty much confirms this, with a 60/40 split of 5 star and 1 star reviews.  I was also pretty impressed with 'Taking Shelter', a film I had been looking forward to checking out.  It may have been a touch long, but the performances and slow-burn sense of menace were pretty great.  I was also intrigued enough by the critical acclaim (and polarizing viewpoints) to check out 'Uncle Boonmee who can Recall His Past Lives', and have to report that it simply did not resonate with me at all.  I appreciate the directors sensibility, and actually took away a good impression of his 'Syndromes and a Century' film, but this one just came off as a bit too obtuse and it seemed that there were some deeply ingrained cultural references that were being missed out on.  If you are not afraid of VERY slow films, I still recommend checking it out as his films are a very unique experience.

When Worlds Collide... I always enjoy watching many of these vintage science fiction movies. I do get very disappointed when these classics are "re-made" and the finished products are just awful. The Day The Earth Stood Still and War of the Worlds certainly comes to mind. I actually began cheering for the Martians in War of the Worlds and wishing that the heat ray would hit Tom...  :flame:

After owning it for a couple of years I just got round to watching 'Watchmen, Directors Cut' what a brilliant film, I went in totally cold not having read the comics and knowing nothing about the story.

Just lately I've become a little disillusioned with the whole Super Hero genre but this has totally restored my faith extremely dark and stylish with great characters, and although it has taken me ages to get round to watching it I can't wait to see it again :) 9/10

My wife and I enjoyed 'Tower Heist' over the weekend.  It had its fun.
It was good seeing Eddie Murphy playing more the role that we grew to like him in. (personally speaking).

"Your Highness". A silly spoof regarding all things mythical . Nicely filmed and entertaining if you have that "Monty Python" perspective .

Sounded great through the 4B ST. :thumb:

The Killing (Forbrydelsen) - The best crime series perhaps ever - 20 episodes - Danish with BBC English subs
Memories of Murder - A stylish tense witty and dark Korean murder mystery.
The Guard - Crime - Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle - FOW in Galway, Ireland.
We Need to Talk about Kevin - Best film of 2011 - chilling, dark and deep.

Hugo I enjoyed the rich "Steampunk" aesthetics of this movie and had a decent storyline. I would rate it as a solid 7 out of 10.
