That's the worst part! It's a well acclaimed film!  :duh:

I'd rather spend an entire summer day dredging a cesspool than I would having to watch five more minutes of this movie.

I'd rather watch paint dry on a slow growing lawn.

Like one poster noted "Battlefield Earth",  they should have shot all the actors, directors, producers what crap. And the next worst of all time

Batman and Robin (1997)

Who's responsible?
Director Joel Schumacher, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, George Clooney, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Entitled to your opinion of course, but everything about the film was deliberate. Verhoeven knew what he was doing.

"In the scheme of Starship Troopers, it’s important that the actors be pretty and vacuous, and their characters’ romantic dilemmas of the most banal variety imaginable. "

Yikes, by my standard, that was a horrible movie (not to mention the book was thousands of times better and the movie only had a very tangential relationship to the book).

I only take this time to defend because I think it's genuinely a great film by any standard

Hmmm...The text I wrote appears missing.  I think Starship Troopers was terrible, especially considering the premise was only tangentially related to the book, which was 1000 times better than the movie.  On the other hand, I'm not a film critic and do not delve into the inner workings of movies.  Heck, my favorite movie of the recent past is Bridesmaids, that's how low life I am.

How about Footloose? It's so bad, I would put in the "Unintentionally Hysterical" category because it's so terrible and absurd, it has turned into a comedy for me.

Any movie that has a shot with an Iron City beer can prominently in the frame can't be _that_ bad...  :icon_lol:

i fell asleep during the original star wars flick.  definitely up there w/worst of all time, but conan the barbarian was worse!  thankfully, i watched hardly any movies for ~30 years, so i didn't have the pleasure of seeing most of the rot...

You know I could see how someone would feel that way about the original Star Wars - but only if they were already older when it came out or really young and have only seen it on tv or dvd. I'm gonna guess the latter for you doug! :P

i saw it in the theatre when it came out, in 1977, at the ripe old age of 21.  i fell asleep, and it was an afternoon show.  truly a piss-poor movie.

I think you're missing some of the intentional subtext at play in the material...

just kidding!

But come on Norwegian Ninjas sounds awesome. Sounds like a high-concept film. With, er, emphasis on high.

I watched one called Kung Fu Zombie way back when Kung Fu Theater used to be on every Saturday afternoon. It was quite possibly the worst and best movie of all time, the entire film was shot in "Clint-Eastwood-O-Vision" where it wasn't actually cropped for TV but just squeezed in. It was definitely worthy of a MST3000 award.

I had "high" hopes going in, but it was hopeless.

NOpe. He's totally and completely WRONG

Some people just shouldn't waste their time going to the theater...I think Doug may be one of them. I may have him mixed up with someone else, but I think previously he had said he didn't even go to the theater for like 30 years and he's only going now cause someone is making him.

The genius of star wars is lost on some people...especially those who couldn't even stay awake during the film back in '77  :duh:

Yeah, but honestly the dialogue, the editing, and yes even some of the acting in the first one is *terrible*. As a kid I loved it anyway, but as an adult I can only appreciate because of the brilliance of The Empire Strikes Back. Empire is the main reason I love the series as much as I do.

Well you should write a letter to the Academy then and tell them that they were smoking the doob when they gave Star Wars the academy award for editing that year!

no, ya got the right guy.  and you're right - i should stay out of the theatre.  but "genius of star wars"?!?  now there's a dictionary definition of oxymoron if i ever saw one!     i recently saw tinker tailer soldier spy.  now, that movie had some intellect to it...  star wars was utter garbage.  and no, that's not my opinion, that's a fact!!!

The only reason you can say ANYTHING like that is because you were too old to have been included in the mass raping that George Lucas orchestrated upon my generation...speaking of which, I'm going to report Wushuliu to the authorites at Skywalker Ranch...he apparently needs a "booster" rape!

George Lucas shouldn't be allowed near a typewriter or a director's chair for that matter.

There's a reason The Empire Strikes Back is probably the best film in the series.
