2-2 ,,,, can you believe it!!!!! USA has tied it up.  :hyper:

Only 1 team has come back from 0-2 score to win a World Cup game.  :o

Shameful if the U.S. don't advance because of that idiot ref.

The Ref robbed the US the game!  Shame...they need to review this...at least this game had no "noticeable" dives...a huge plus...

The referee is being taken to the cleaners by the commentators!

Great play by US in the second half ... almost unrecognizable from first half. Slovenians were made to look very sloppy by US.
The third goal SHOULD HAVE been allowed ... i still don't know why it was disallowed! It definitely was not an offside foul .. and the only team fouled against in that penalty area was the US! And that should have resulted in a PK!

It was highway robbery,, expect lots of replays on that one. A US player was physically held around the waist while another US player kicks a winner,,, yet no penalty kick was awarded and the goal was disallowed.

But a tie is a tie and it stilll gives USA a chance to move onto the next round. A loss would have been the final nail in their coffin so Team USA have to be happy.  :D

Aren't those refs accountable to anyone? Germany was crippled in the first game by wanton distribution of yellow cards and the U.S. was openly cheated by the removal of a fair goal. It's starting to look like the fix is in. Spain loses their first game, then a Spanish ref screws Germany. This is more like a lottery than a competition. Can a referee just steer things the way he wants them to go without even explaining? That guy acted like an Olympic figure skating judge.

One thing for sure is this World Cup is totally unpredictable :eyebrows: Makes for some exciting games!

Congrats to the U.S. players for getting back on track and also the Serbs for defeating Germany. The Serbs are a formidable threat which is why I wanted to reserve judgment on Germany's results against Australia.

Here is an interesting fact I heard on "Mike and Mike" this morning.  The US has the largest population of all 32 teams in this World Cup and Slovenia has the smallest.  It is 310M versus 2M.  I think that is crazy!

36 of our states have a population greater than that of Slovenia. So do 4 of our cities. But Slovenia had one more referee.

One of the greatest comebacks that I remember.
Go USA.

Someone said that this World Cup is unpredictable ..... Well, yes it is!!!!!
And I love it.  But it wasn't always like that tho.....
We have seen a lots of upsets but biggest emotional games are still ahead.

As to the 3th (winning) goal for US. I have not seen it until few minutes ago and......
US was robbed in presents of thousands of witnesses at the stadium and millions in front of TV sets.

American team still has a chance tho.

Uninspired half from the English side.  They were more like 3 pussycats than lions.  I am still looking for Rooney to show up.

So, this ensures that if the US wins against Algeria, they are through to the next round...no matter what happens between England and Slovania...if England wins, they are in as well!

Yes, but if USA and England loose those games - they are BOTH OUT!!!
It comes down to the last minute of the last game.
Draw doesn't guaranty the number 2 spot if England wins with Slovenia.

It's actually quite a nice outcome in group C:  almost all of the teams are masters of their own destinies.  A win or draw assures Slovenia a berth in the next round; a win for either England or the US guarantees they move on.  It's only poor Algeria who could win its last game and still miss out.

I'm not sure what to expect in tomorrow's Australia v Ghana game.  Ghana beat Serbia, who made the Germans look pretty ordinary today, after the Germans looked invincible against the Australians.   I guess its possible that the Australians are simply the worst team in the finals - but I suspect that's not the case.  Tactically, Serbia's approach to their game against Germany was far superior to Australia's, and then they had the benefit of a red-carded Kloser.  But Australia's goal difference took such a hammering against Germany that they really need to win both their last games in order to progress.

There haven't been too many great games to date, but the US v  Slovenia game really was pretty dramatic.  I thought all three of the US goals were lovely (even if the last didn't count for some weird reason).  But the draw was a pretty good reflection of the balance in the game.  I thought the Slovenians played very well against their more fancied opposition, and didn't really deserve to lose.

To me, the most striking thing about the tournament to date is the parity in the competition.  Apart from the German drubbing of my Socceroos and Argentina's effort against Sth Korea, the games have been close.  France and England have both been handled relatively easily by less-vaunted opposition.  Spain went down by a goal to the Swiss, Serbia beat Germany by a goal, Brazil eeked out a one-goal victory against the Nth Koreans.  Nobody is really stepping up and establishing themselves as the team of destiny.  Sounds like exactly the sort of environment in which the Italians will thrive (again).  Watch for them to wriggle out of difficult situations time and again, with equal parts luck and skill, and then loom menacingly in the last rounds.

Personally, I'm praying for two things to make this an outstanding tournament:  an Australian miracle, and for Maradonna to forbid his Argentinian players to play defense.
