Patent attorney was gone all last week to Washington.

At least I don't have to worry about Elisha Gray beating me to the Patent Office...

Brian,
Why don't you just spill the beans already? We're all friends here. We won't tell anybody.

Anyone who has known BC as long as I have is familiar with Brian-speak (BS).  "Two weeks" in BS: Wait till it actually appears.  Count back two weeks prior to that date.  That is the date referred to originally, but you don't know the date till the event has already occurred!

Chris the patent attorney hit me with 26 pages of disclosure, four of claims and seven of drawings yesterday.

I had sent him 3 1/2 pages of disclosure plus 4 photos.  I don't remember feeding this baby but it sure has grown!

Day after filing, the full story will appear here.

Having had quite some time with the "new tech" on the RM30's I can say several pre-filing things.   One, for newly made "new tech" speakers, the sound will open up to "pre-new tech levels" with break-in. You will need some patience at first, those mid panels need to get their music legs under them even more so with the new tech.  For you old timer VMPS'ers don't be judging things till your ears get used to the new sound.  It is very different than what you're accustomed to, and you may ascribe a "negative" to that difference unless you're willing to "discover" what it is providing, which is beyond anything you've perceived before.   In both cases you may immediately LOVE the sound, but I have a friend who heard the "non-new tech" RM40's a couple of months ago, and jumped on the purchase; he then heard the "new tech" RM40's and questioned himself as to which he preferred.   It can be an adjustment process, but having heard both the new and old 30's and living with the new 30's for this period of time I could never go back.

Actually, the sound ends up even more "open" when the design is correct.  I made your "new tech" about 1/8" too deep.

Those in the know realize I wear out micrometers and 5-digit measurement gear every few months and obsess about 0.001% changes in crossover points.  Well, I haven't changed a bit.

Let me share with you the opening paragraph of the disclosure (verbatim, kid u knott):
"The present invention relates to the field of loudspeakers, and, more particularly, to loudspeakers and associated methods, such as for the reproduction of high quality music".

Must be a dearth of audiophiles at the Patent Office.  We're leaving nothing to chance!

Here is my guess at why 1/8'' depth would make a difference in "opening" up the sound.

I actually tried one of these (took it from my no good dog who sports steel wires for the rear cruciate ligaments) for listening.  You can hear amazing details with one of these -- I just didn't feel comfortable wearing it.

Looks like I've been outed.

That accounts for the "hangdog" look.

It's always that portion of an inch you're off by that gets you    Of course then there's JC, who's talking about footage, in another direction...I just keep hearing the words "timber" when I think about methods to implement this JC patented tweak.  :o

If it's carpenting,
it could be something to negate early reflection either from the speaker or the walls, or maybe bouth.

If it is, I would welcome it with open arms Brian.

Yeah, I've been wondering how to "Announce" the new RM30 and the tweak.

How about "SECOND Biggest Announcement in VMPS history ever for the RM30"????

I think it is "scary good".  In fact, my speakers "Transformed"
