Those are really nice and I'd love to have em, but I'm sure they won't fit on my desk. Do you think the WR125's will work in a tiny tiny enclosure if its just going to be used for ultra near field use? I realize they are kind of deep so I may have to go another route.

Any RAD micro people out there?

What dimensions are you looking to use? The 0.25ft^3 box is on the large side for this driver. It can work really well in much smaller boxes. Also... the PE unit has a 0.75" brace & 1" baffle all which eat up space. They really are not needed in a box this small so you could build something with .5" thick walls & no brace and significantly cut the size. I'd also say you can go to about 0.2 ft^3 without much of an issue. I'd have to run the simulation on the port size but it shouldn't be much of an issue.

could it be run sealed as well? I don't think that response below 100hz would be necessary since I will be using a sub. Of course whatever you could get out of it would be great. I would like the box to be as small as possible. If you could keep to width to 5" or less and the depth at the absolute minimum and use height to get the best enclosure size that would be great.

Sure.... sealed in even a smaller box will just give you a higher F3. I was modeling it a couple months ago in a 3-4L cabinet (desktop monitor size) with a sealed F3 of about 95-100hz.

Some quick modeling in WinISD backs Kevin up totally - some 4 liter boxes could be 5x7x7 (internal dimensions) and roll smoothly down to where you intend to use the sub.

I run a set of these full range in .3 foot boxes ported to 55Hz, and have been absolutely pleased with the results. That is for 2 channel, and HT, with sub for HT, but these things just play music.

Go for it, you will have a lot of fun with these, and they are video shielded, if that matters to you, and your install.

Great news! Kevin what are the physical dimensions of the driver. I couldn't find it on the site. Also, would it be possible to get the 8ohm version in the truncated frame? It would make it easier to make a narrow box.

I think digital In only. No digital out. That's based on the Sharp Usa website.

No, the digital is out only so that you could dub a cd to a Sharp MD. (that's right out of the manual) I got mine today and it's breaking in on my Abby speakers.

The unit has analog/RCA jacks in. Maybe not ideal to work with your computer/sound card, but it will work with analog out....

It has no EQ functions, really. There are two loudness settings, affecting bass and treble in undocumented ways, and a loudness off setting.

You can't tell from the web, but those are 5 way binding posts, albeit the cheapest ones you've ever seen. Still a great convenience.

I use mine in a mid sized room for background music with some 89db Fried A/6 speakers. Those are so smooth that it could sound like anything and I wouldn't know it (not to mention my ears). I like it ergonomically a great deal. It's like a $200-300 Linn Classik (listed for $400), but is smaller than some of those NAD all in ones floating around.

It does not put out 20 watts in any meaningful way, though, if you read the specs carefully.

I really wish they had posted a manual on their website. The description clearly says digital in. In either case it should do what I need it to do, but I think I would have held out for a Sonic Impact had I known all of these details. Just to be sure, can anyone confirm through use that the optical port is an out and not an in.

It has an optical out NOT in. Double check sharps website. I just looked and the picture shows the jack labeled as out and in the spec. page also says out.

Anyway the pic tells more than any words. Unless the Japan model has the out and the US has an in looks like I'm SOL on the PC inerface.

No, it doesn't necessarily mean that. Whether you get a doubling/halving like that or not depends on a lot of things; in the old world it often had to do with how "floppy" the power supply is.

And even that 20 watts is at 2%, 20 to 20k. And even that is only what they claim.

BTW, original retail was $500, I now recall.
