I'd particularly interested to hear about what usb cables/usb to spdif converter etc others are using.

Lampi Python Power cable
Pangea and Audioquest Forest USB cable.
iFi Triple play, i.e., iUSB Power to Gemini cable & Ultrafi Aubisque filter to iLink converter (very clean channel of digital data to G4 L4 Lampi RCA coax).

Tubes : Output 6h8  rectifier 6X5.

What's up with the tongue and groove floor in the case?  Is that UL approved?

Ming can fix and upgrade any unit one might have. He is by far the most honest and upright man I have ever dealt with in my audio journey. Anyone wanting a Lampi Dac and thinking on the Poland stuff should just forget about it. He even answers his phone!!

+1.  Had trouble with the AES/EBU input, so I sent it to Ming.  He quickly fixed that problem.  When I asked how to improve the sound (it is used direct to an Ncore 400 amp and was not as relaxed as I hoped it would be) he suggested bypass caps.  Very, very happy with the result.  Thanks, Ming.

But how much was that? I heard his time is expensive for repairs and upgrades.

Labor cost was minimal.

I have to agree with Phil - I sent my level 3 to Ming in July and he did the Mundorf cap bypass.  Price was very reasonable, the turnaround was very fast, Ming was excellent to deal and communicate with, my mundorfs are just starting to break in (they maybe have 100 hours) - didn't think this dac could get better but it has...every track I play has a wow factor.

Apparently the Duelunds blow away all the other caps....Jensens/V-Caps/Mundorfs, etc.

Interesting discussions on a L3 Gen4 Dac in the UK:
http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?26773-Lampizator-Level-3-Gen-4-Versus-Jolida-Glass-FX-DAC-II&highlight=lampizator

It will be interesting when he trades up to a V-capped L4 in the coming days and get his impressions.

I wonder how the Lampizator compares to other well known dacs as I'm quite curios about this.
Also would be terrific if they did a demo tour up here in Canada :thumb:.
Maybe someone on here has one in sunny Alberta I could compare with my BDA-2.

No sure how it compares to the BDA-2 but my friend Grant aka Lissnr (on AC) owned a BDA-1 and my L4 Gen4 was MUCH more musical, immersive and analog sounding.  The L4 made his solid state Classe amp sound a like a tube amp. His rig went from very good to magical. He ordered a L4 a day or two later, as he agreed with my findings.

Thanks to Fred's and others experiences, I have a G4/L4 USB Dueland-equipped unit on its way from Poland.

Congrats big red.  It sounds as if TRL and Lampizator is a match made in heaven.  Sadly, I sold my TRL Dude and ST100 due to the presence of a little one (19 months) who loves being near Daddy.  I have a Neodio integrated which is stellar but not quite TRL.  Ironically, both gents who bought my TRL gear also own Lamps and are living large.... :duh:

I got a Neodio SR600.  Very good piece.  Simple and kid safe.

Newbe here trying to upgrade from my two chassis Metrum Acoustics Octave and the Sigma stuff still sounds flat to me.

Is there a US distributer? I was unable to open the website price list any suggestions. Thanks

Vic,

Funny you mention that.  I owned a Metrum Octave immediately prior to the Level 4/Gen4 and flat is exactly how I'd describe them, especially after experiencing the lamp.

Drop me a PM.
