Good day at HMV.  Found some Delirium and Leonard Cohen plus two Stones DSD jobs that were rather limited but nice to have for old time sake. :thumb:

Came across 2 remastered Loreena  McKinett cds . They are much better than the original releases. The base is more focused, less bloated as well as an improved  vocal articulation  :thumb:

Stocking up on groceries today after getting back from Nova Scotia yesterday. A couple of CDs from Walmart and a visit to Goodwill. Our local Walmart is adding a grocery section to its store and by the look of their prices - the local grocery store chains in our area are going to be very worried. Picked up a Vera Lynn record as I enjoy some of her songs - eclectic music tastes, I will however, draw a line that will not be crossed if the album has cowboys hats on it, epileptic hands gestures or music titles such as "Yo Yo Baby Mama, You Be My B@tch."

CDs...

August Burns Red ~Constellations~
David Bowie ~heathen~
Dire Straits ~Vertigo~
Underoath ~The Changing Of Times~
ELO ~Greatest Hits~

Tom Petty ~Full Moon Fever~
Static-X ~Beneath...Between...Beyond~

Vinyl...

Vera Lynn ~50 Golden Hits~
Chris De Burgh ~Into The Light~
Neil Diamond ~The jazz Singer~
The Great Band Era ~a compilation~

Well said, Laundrew! The bigger the hat . . .

Will Laundrew crack 1K discs this year? The pool starts here. (You do have those beautiful new shelves that eschew empty space.)

Cheerio,

Sadly, the storage capacity of the new CD shelf was already eclipsed in the preliminary design process - "sharpens pencil, goes back to drawing board."  :duh:

Got a set of 5 Baroque  CDs from  Value Village for 10$. They span a period of about 25 years so they vary in audio finesse... but what the heck :thumb:

Laundrew         That's a pile of money to spend since january.

You know, I had not really thought of this, but all of a sudden it came to me in a most blinding, all consuming flash, it was as if a burning ember slowly descended into my brain and it now makes perfect sense. It was around January, that I was finally set free from the cold, dark, blood lusting abysmal money pit and automotive bane - the dreaded PT Cruiser.  No longer must Laundrew carry the burden of constant repairs and horrid fuel efficiency that made tractor-trailers look like gas misers. Laundrew smiles and is serene in knowing that with all these music purchases, he is still a head of the game

A sweet irony will most certainly ensue when a turn table finally lands on the equipment rack to play, at present, $100.00 worth of records  :duh:

But all joking aside you certainly raise an interesting observation. If you look at my current purchases, the vast majority of them has been at the Goodwill store
and this is for mostly mainstream music @ $1.00 per CD and less for a record (CD 50% off day). For anyone who has not checked out their local Goodwill/Salvation Army stores, you are missing out on some great music and fun - it is literally like Forest Gump's "Box Of Chocolates" as you never know what you will find. And it is an awesome way to discover "new to you" music  :thumb:

When I order from CDandLP or Discogs, I am searching for very specific/rare Bands/Albums and have at times paid up to 40 Euros for single selections - Europe is a sweet haven for Gothic Music. Also, some of the Gothic music bands that I enjoy was never released on CDs, except on compilations and this is why I now pursue vinyl. CD Universe selections normally average $200.00 per order and Amazon averages around $25.00 per order thus far. Sonic Boom visits are normally just under $100.00 with "Brick and Mortar" stores such as HMV/ Walmart, etc...  are around $100.00 in total this year.

Collecting music can be a hobby, but listening to it is a passion   :D

Post scriptum...

From the volume of CDs I see at Goodwill, it looks like people are now purging their CD collections and repeating what was done with vinyl when the CD players first came on line.

I'm curious how often you come home with a pile of new CDs only to find out that you've already got that one and this one??  I would have trouble keeping track of which ones I already have and not end up with multiple copies…

High Wayne  :D

My iPod is a Classic at 160GB and I use this as a reference when I am out shopping or my Mac while at home when on-line purchases are made (my entire music library is on my MAC). I have perhaps purchased a couple of dozen or so CDs as duplicates thus far - the problem now is my iPod is completely full so the odds have increased for dupilcate purchases, but at $1.00 per CD it is not a huge hit.

I was thinking that I will eventually have to come up with some kind of system when and if, my vinyl collection gets huge.
