Last night Avatar was on tv here. I attempted to watch it again (third try), and once again I could not stop myself from channel surfing after about 25 minutes. The special effects are stunning (although the tails do not behave naturally and falling stuff looks like it goes down in slow motion), but the story sucks hardcorely.
If I want to watch Pocahontas I'll pull out the Disney classic.

Just watched Revenge of the Sith, by far the best of the 3 'new' Star Wars film, really enjoyed it actually, amazing picture and sound on BD, can't wait to get stuck into the original 3 movies now, especially to see how they look on BD, I can't help thinking it's time for Mr Lucas to start on 3 new films now to finish of the set of 9 that was once mentioned many moons ago.

Hi,Laundrew was right on with Apollo 18.It absolutely sucked, and I grew up loving the space race.I rented it and brought it back as fast as I could,no late fees on something that bad.If you like history, and find WW2 interesting,I steamlined from Netflix,(Down Fall)a movie made in Germany about the last days of Hitler and his henchmen.Subtitled, but so was the best version of Das Boot. The guy who played Hitler should of won an Oscar. The costumes and accuaracy are stunning, you can't turn it off....Mark Korda.

I actually purchased it - it would of been much more entertaining to throw the $22.00 out of the window and watching it hit the ground than watching the movie  :duh:

Be well...

Rise of the Planet of the Apes tonight, I dismissed this when released at the cinema but after hearing so many good things about it I thought I'd give it a try and it didn't disappoint, great effects and soundtrack, interesting story and set up perfectly for PT2, 4/5

Not everybody's cup of tea, but just got back from the new silent film, "The Artist"
I'd give it a B, but I totally recommend the soundtrack of big band like songs.

The dog is the star of the show!

Really looking forward to seeing 'The Artist' myself, nice to see someone try something new and original, unless you were around in the 1920's I guess :)

Last night I watched 'Monsters' quite a low budget film telling the story of an aliens quarantined in an infected zone in Mexico and 2 people journey through the zone, quite slow paced for an alien film but very enjoyable and sometimes it almost felt like a documentary, it's almost the opposite to Super8 with its highly polished, big budget effects, very enjoyable 4/5.

We streamed 50/50 over the weekend. It was better than I expected but definitely not one you'd want to pay much to see.

The 2009 Swedish version of "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" streamed on Netflix - if you don't mind subtitles.

Telstar..... A docudrama about Joe Meek, the pioneering English record producer and songwriter.

The actor playing Joe does an amazing job portraying the highly emotional and ultimately mentally unstable Meek.

Very enjoyable.

Finally got around to watching Dream House. My sister-in-law always brings a scary movie along when she visits. This one started off as scary/creepy but the twist turned things in an unexpected direction. Not bad...

What ever happened to Sin 2??

Last night I watched a film that I had low expectations of, which I really really enjoyed: Peter Jackson's 'District 9' if you want a film to just carry you off, sit back and enjoy, give it a go. The sound was also fantastic through the SP3  :D

Cheers

I watched this round a friends around 6 months ago and really enjoyed it so I brought the BD last week to watch again, this time in style on the SP3 without people talking all the way through it

Unfortunately now I'm back at work my movie viewing has taken a real hit

Just watched "Drive" last night. Thought it was very good, not as much driving action as I would have liked but in the end it was worth the time invested...

Watched "The Other F-Word" last night. A documentary dealing with prominent members of the punk rock scene (from the Germs and TSOL through Rancid and Blink) and their adventures in parenthood. Pretty fun stuff.

It's pretty hard to imagine growing up with Flea (Germs) or Duane Peters (US Bombs) as your father...
