Moving the tweeter to the top increases the center to center spacing of the drivers and will force the crossover lower to compensate for the lobbing problems that it will create. The MTM design is a better solution with better end results.

I didn't realize that it would have such implications to the crossover design.  I guess MTM it is.

I learn more here than on any other audio forum.  It's really helpful.  AVS could be, but usually just devolves into a bunch of people fighting so I stay away.

This $180 price will be for the sealed kit. I will be able to do the full TL for $365/pr. That's everything including some clamping blocks for the mitered corner joints.

As an aside, I am planning on shooting video in my new shop of GR speaker assembly: wiring, finishing, etc. Basically front to back on building a GR Masterpiece. It's never been this easy to get world-class sound, folks should know. The first will be the Neo3, followed by the Venue, Neo2X and a sandbox sub. Hopefully I will have this up on my site in a couple of weeks.

The sub-kits are coming, BTW!

Eric, you are really making things easy and affordable. :thumb:
Sorry, that you won't be posting anymore. I enjoy your posts and appreciate the knowledge that you are willing to share.  :o

Eric,

I agree with the others - I would hate to see you go.  As someone looking to build my first set of speakers, I was so excited to see your post about posting a video of a Neo 3 start to finish.  How will we know when it will be available?  What is your website address?  I am baiting you to post again as I don't want you to leave! :D

Oh my, I hope I haven't opened up some sort of pandora's box.  I was only pointing out a factoid about the particular veneer on the speakers I was referencing because I was pretty sure it was a renewable wood source.

I have no qualms with your point of view and would probably agree with most of it.  This probably just isn't the place for that discussion.  If I unintentionally offended please accept my apologies.

Now back to the audio!  :thumb:

Danny,

with some careful planning i managed to use just a tad over 1 sheet of no rez per speaker (in disbelief, i checked at least 3 times what i'd missed) so i have plenty left. Would it be beneficial to also cover the "chamber" beetwen braces E and D (and maybe even G and F?), on the sides?

Vuce, can you share your cutting layout on the no-rez to help us minimize waste?  Thanks

a 7.87 x 6.49
b 10.23 x 6.49
c 5.51 x 6.49
d* 5.63 x 7.1 (those actually get all the way to the top, i didn't see that on the plan at a time - you can easily make j bigger and d smaller if you wish)
e* 4.3 x 7.1
f* 8.27 x 7.1
g 5.63 x 6.5
h 4.33 x 6.5
i 13.97 x 6.5
j 6.89 x 3.54 (this gets cut in two so it fits on either side of brace A)
k 3.15 x 6.5
l 9.05 x 6.5

* i left a fair bit open on the side of the drivers (app. 2 inches), as that far back i figured the drivers would go. In case you don't want to live that much space i don't think all this would go on 1 sheet.

hope i didn't screw up somewhere (now that all is in place and i cant do s* about it)

sorry for the weird dimensions, conversion from inches to cm and back to inches does that  :|

Can't guarantee that everything is pinpoint accurate, so do measure before you cut.

Won't hurt.

Well, Crap!  Who am I now going to argue with about 10-mil paper-backed veneer and it being good enough to compare with "pro" thicker veneer, AND that doesn't cover the arguing about contact cement!   All the fun is gone...
