Music You cannot Stand & Why?
« on: 15 Jan 2009, 09:36 pm »
There are threads everywhere on what you're playing and what you like... This is one for where you can talk about what you can't stand, find insufferable, react violently to, etc.... Feel free to argue with me or others about it too (respectfully of course).

For the me the ultimate bore is Jack Johnson.  It seems as though his former surfer, filmmaker, dude that got bit by a shark persona precceeds his dreadfully lifeless music, making  such more exceptable...  I cannot distinguish any of his songs from one another. This would categorically fall under the "Find Insufferable".....  Trance is where you will begin to see a violent reaction....

...  I'm interested to know how others feel?

Although I would never discourage the creation of additional hateful and spiteful threads, there was this earlier thread about wanting bands dead.

My view still holds, Mannheim Steamroller is the worst I have heard.  But there are also vast catalogs of music that everyone just has zero interest in.  You might hear snatches of it here and there and be repulsed by it.  We can't even hope to hear all the music out there that we hate.  One thing is for sure, with age my hatred towards genre X or artist X has degraded into mere indifference.  It's also phenomenally easy to avoid bad music.  But not as fun, in a perverse way.

My vote is opera.  I would rather hear cats fight.

I like Jack Johnson, but only one song :?
It doesn't matter which one , they all sound the same, but well crafted and well recorded. but still the same song.
Reminds me of Vivaldi(who I love) where they jokingly say, he wrote 450 concertos, or 1 concerto 450 times
Of course Jack Johnson has no musical relation(in any way) to Vivaldi, but this phenomenon may be a very old thing.
I could listen to Vivaldi all day, Jack Johnson 2 or 3 songs. But still enjoy them. Jack is stuck in his mold, his song craftsmanship is very good, but he can't break out of his formula. It happens a lot in pop music, he just managed to push out a few albums of the same stuff. God bless him, he made a fortune doing it. I do almost the same thing every day and have a long way to go :thumb:

Hey wait, there's more to Chip Davis than just being the genius behind Mannheim.  Back in the day, he teamed up with C.W. McCall to do the CB radio crapola that plagued the country.  I blame him for driving me to dope with his hits such as "Convoy".  Thirty years later, he's still slowly killing me.  10-4 good buddy.   :P

Although Jack is probably more of a shortboarder, for longboarder's its all about the glide and he's in there.

:rotflmao:  This morning I put on a Fresh Air disc and asked myself why is that in my collection?   But you have to admit Chip has done something right, because...

I think if Yanni were to team up with Celine Dion I could have something to write about.

Bela Fleck is perhaps the worst artist of the somewhat "respected" artists I've heard.  Dull, dull, dull.

Hey!

Well, what sound like music to you can sound like unbearable noise to others. :D

Personally I'm open to all type of music. Even if I don't like it I could still sit and listen to it. :D

But if you ask me there is one song that drives me nuts! And that is "Zombie" by Cranberries. Remembered them? I don't know why. Maybe is the way she sings it or something. But when I hear this song I feel annoyed to hell.  :x

Sorry if this happened to be your favorite song.  :icon_lol: I'm sure some of my music will drive you nuts too.

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

After hearing lots of 'praise' about Bela, I bought a 3-cd set of his...never bought another cd of his...totally agree, a real bore.

Maria Carey  (hideous, just hideous)
Boy2Men (and all the hyper-vocal-inflecting R&B followers that came after)

Hahaha - I used to like the Cranberries in the 90s, but that song also drove me nuts and for me, it was the worst song on that album.  :banghead:

Around the same time, there was that Crash Test Dummies song that used to annoy me, Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmmmm  :green:
