:peek: Sorry Ed and Rydenfan. I'll admit it. I just don't get it (I don't get them).
Neither one can I understand the lyrics. Dylan sounds like he's got a pickle in his mouth. Springsteen is trying too hard to be "the all American cool guy". Kinda like he's wanting to be ....... ohhhh ..... the name escapes me....The (real) cool guy that wrecked his Porsche back fifty years or so ago.....Black leather and cigarette. Damn, can't remember his name. Anyway, that's who Springstein *appears* to be emulating. "I wanna be blue collar. Just like you people".
Granted, I've never heard either one of these guys sing a song that isn't on the radio, so maybe I haven't heard their "real" music.

Rick Springfield......There. Who's got the kahunas to argue with that one?

The Monkeys...........  :o ........ Yea, That's right. Flame away fellas.
Milli Vanilli[sp?].......Those two are in the same boat.

Speaking of Vanilli........Vanilla Ice. Punk.

No issue Bob, I hope that came off "tongue in cheek" as it was meant to , we all have different ears and experiences.  I have been a Springsteen fan for more than 30 years now so I couldn't let that just slip by.  But if you are/have not listened to any Dylan or Springsteen except whats on the air you would be doing yourself a favor by digging a little deeper.

This advice is worth exactly what you paid for it!!

Best,
Ed

I don't know if we can allow Wayner's wish for ANY rap or hip-hop. That's just too broad.  We're talking about a few simple murders here, not genocide! :P   Besides, who can possibly dislike "Still" by the Geto Boys?

You are right.
It was just my 52 cents.
Beside, that is about the right amount salary this so called artists should be making ...........minus bling bling.

arthurs

I'm not sure I "get" Radiohead, but they don't need to die because of it....

James Dean? I love trivial pursuit.

Those female singers who insist on running the scales instead of holding a pure note the way the song was intended. Why do they think that's better? I know it's easier but maybe a little vocal restraint please.

I wouldn't want to send anyone to an early grave, that comes soon enough. But there is some music I wish was never made:

Air Supply
Foreigner
Neil Sadakka
Berry Man hole cover (Manalow) (Spelling?)
Peter, Paul and Mary
Boy George
George Micheal
Bread
BTO

That is enough for now.

Wayner  aa

Wayner - you and I have almost identical tastes in music. I guess that means you have really good taste! :thumb:

This recommendation I will likely need my flame suit for  :flame:, but I cannont stand U2 and/or Bono

I agree 100% with the U2 thing while there add Beatles and Oasis all are overrated crap.

Here's three "note holders":

a. Barbra Streisand
b. Celene Dion (Thanks to the Canadians for keeping her away as long as they did.)
c. Whitney Houston  (a few more hits of the rock and I may get my wish.)

Maybe those of you who hate "The Boss" should turn off your tuners and start buying some music!!  There is a bit more by Bruce than what you have heard on the airwaves.

Flame away!!!  :flame:
ebag4 - I like your speakers so much I could never flame you.

This is purely subjective like arguing over whether your steak is better done medium rare or well done. To each his own.

I still think the boss sucks (his voice that is). Having said that, I have seen him live MANY times. GREAT live show, GREAT performer. Can't sing though... :green:

  • I'm just not right!
I'm going to start a new conflagration here.  I'd like to see almost all bluegrass disappear.  While I was fond of the Seldom Scene and New Grass Revival from years (decades?) ago, I can't stand the "high lonesome sound".  Either they are singing through their noses or they are afraid folks might find out they didn't bring their teeth to the show.  I have a lot of friends who love bluegrass, many of whom are even highly educated (bi-lingual is my guess), and if I think they can handle it I tell them that recent research had discovered that Bill Monroe was NOT the originator of bluegrass music.

While they rattle that around in their heads for awhile, I tell them that it was Ned Beatty that invented bluegrass....................in the movie "Deliverance".  And then I take off running.

BTW, I live in the Ozarks, so it is hard to get away from the stuff.  Mountain rap, one could say.

that would have been my 3 easy. well done nels.  someone should discuss with burr brown or one of the other dac company's to see if a chip can be engineered to reject any digits from these overrated shriekers

Scott F.

Besides Diana Krall and Patricia Barber (or any other overly hyped, audiophile approved, "well recorded", female vocalist), I'll toss in a few others that make me puke when I hear them;

Leonard Cohen
Tom Waits
Dylan
Springsteen
Foreigner
Asia
Brittney Spears (and any of her wanna-be's)
Madonna
Cher

...there's more but I just can't think of them now

That reminds me of this sketch from the old Ben Stiller show:
