BTW, the 'final version' of the design wouldn't have the Focal woofer ... they're not made anymore.  I'm just using them because I love 'em, and didn't have time to work on a full dipole design.  But the final version would either be full dipole or some other driver in an enclosure for the bottom end.

Since my design is modular, we might pair it up with Chris' (BPT owner) quad 15" Titanics in a truly impressive 2" thick aluminum dipole mounting.  I have a feeling we'll be up late Thursday night trying to get that working in the room.

Chris also has some pretty cool electronics to show off in his room, obviously the power conditioning stuff, but also things like a battery Squeezebox power supply, and lots of high-res music fed through an Off-Ramp.

Not sure how many had his room marked as a must visit, but hopefully this will encourage some to make the trip up the elevator :)

I am sure everyone has a nearly full list of rooms to visit.  I know I do.  But there's always room for one more, right?

Therefore, I will - without great shame - suggest you add rooms 1016 and 1018 in the tower to your list, where Gilbert Yeung (Blue Circle Audio) and Bob Neill (JM_R speakers) will be hanging out.

Blue Circle will be showing a new hybrid integrated amp, the DAR, which features the 6SN7, plus a lot of other stuff, including their small component line, the SB series.  I want to hear the SBH headphones.  Bob will be bringing JM_R Cantabiles and Offrand Signature models and he'll be using both Blue Circle and Audio Note Dacs.  People familiar with JMR may be surprised by the sonic differences in these two speakers, and how many of you heard a BC Dac, let alone been in a position to compare it with an AN Dac?  Since Bob is both an AN and a BC dealer, his willingness to display both Dacs makes a pretty strong statement.

Anyway, go see these rooms.  BC is also in the recording business, now.

Anyone else get an e-mail containing the badge info for a whole bunch of attendees?  I got it, then another one that included just my badge info.

I got one for my badge this morning, but I didn't get one "for a whole bunch of attendees."

Unless you're a member of show admin, I have to think that was a mistake.

Yeah, got it as well.  Too much to read thru and not nosey enough right now to peruse it.

hi Jim, George, and all....  sorry i haven't been very communicative, it's been a busy year!  we went back to the drawing board to design a pair of systems for two channel audiophiles with the same tonality of the DA-1. it's a whole 'nother league....from b&w to 3d color.  the debut is at the RMAF room 1030 ( the suite at the end of the hall 10th floor. we'll be showing with Art Audio's great tube gear and the E.D. cables, there should be some magic in the room this year. looking forward to seeing everyone.
thanks,
lou

ps Jim, my son's flying T-38's now and having a ball!

ps Jim, my son's flying T-38's now and having a ball!

Congrats, to you and your son!  He wouldn't be enjoying -38s right now if he hadn't performed extremely well in phase 2.

The best is yet to come.  He needs to choose his own path, but I'm more than willing to offer a little insight and advice if he's interested.

I apologize, but I've forgotten - where's he in training?  PM if you'd prefer to keep this aspect of the conversation more private.

See you in Denver!  :thumb:

This could be quite interesting for the full range driver enthusiasts.  Demonstration of modified Lowthers, I've done the same basic treatment on a set of crappy computer speakers and it does work.  Supposedly, it works wonders on Lowthers and can potentially help with many of their issues.

Wow, just finished reading that whole thread - and the related EnABL thread - very interesting.  As I've said a few times in the past, I see more direct correlation between energy/time speaker measurements and it's actual sound than any other measurement - at times more even than a FR measurement.  It looks like the EnABL primarily helps with cone energy storage from controlling standing waves, so I'd say it could potentially have a large impact on the sound.

I, how about starting a thread over on the single driver circle so we can have some discussion about this there.  I myself would like to know exactly what is involved as I can't see any of the pictures or diagrams.

Thanks,

Jim
Don't want to hijack this thread, but if somebody can explain this technology

stress???? it's amazing what you can do on 15 minutes of sleep... but the gear's together, and it cooks so all is good.  hope i get time at the show to see everyone.
anyhow here's a rundown of the gear in the room and a big thanks to Joe Jurzek for hooking me up with Joe Fratus. the ARt Audio gear is wonderful!!!!!!

and a thank you to everyone from last year, after the show i did some soul searching and decided to really address what the people who come to this show are looking for. it sent me back to the drawing board and i'm very excited with what has developed.

At RMAF 2007 we will debut our first loudspeaker systems designed specifically for the audiophile; the Ulysses and the DA-Rma.
Room 1030 setup:

Daedalus Audio products:
New product!  ULYSSES ,  floor standing  speaker
New product! DA-RMa , full range monitor speaker
DA-2.1 , new release full range monitor speaker
Solid hardwood furniture quality equipment rack

Partnering  products:
Art Audio:
Alana tube pre-amp , Elise tube DAC , Quartet mono blocks, Symphony 300B tube amp

Empirical Design:  interconnects, speaker and power cables.

Joe Fratus will be bringing a Bluenote cd player as a transport.

I’m really looking forward to working with Joe and Karl, as well as seeing all the friends I only see once a year at the show.
