Try,

The Knife  - Silent shout
Postal service - give up
Hot chip - The warning
Junior boys - so this is goodbye

All pretty reasonable recordings and good music.

Would Robert Miles fit into this genre?

Miles/Gurtu is one of the best sounding discs I own.

I like that stuff too.  Underworld is utterly awesome stuff.  They've been at it a long time and they just keep producing superior electronic music.  It isn't really dance-groovy though.

For that, I go to my Mark Farina collection.  He's a Chicago to San Francisco DJ that throws in just enough R&B vocals to get the emotion flowing, and he can rip the beats.

Miguel Migs is following in his footsteps.

For more downtempo stuff, I go for Thievery Corporation.  They're two producers, a Latino and a Brit.  They borrow from everywhere.  Check out this cool stream:

yeah,  thievery corporation is nice  :o

Check the band "tortoise"    ,  it's not all electronic but the recordings are very good and there's some nice effects in there....

A lazarus taxon is a nice introduction to their catalogue

Does Massive Attack - Protection count?  Excellent sound quality, nice down tempo, trip hop.

I did not like Blue Lines, or No Protection, or Mezzanine that much though.

Morcheeba anyone?  (cough cough)

My favorite of theirs is "Who Can You Trust" from 1996 - Way crazy instrumentals and their singer Skye (now another chick) is a wickedly talented, trained jazz singer.  It's an intoxicating mix (heh heh).

Big Calm is outstanding too, a little less underground sounding but there are a few on there that will bring tears.

LCD Soundsystem seems fairly well recorded. Depeche Mode's stuff is well recorded, also. Check-out Exciter, for example.

Royksopp and Crystal Method's albums aren't too bad, either. If you want something heavier, read industrial, NIN Downward Sprial and Prodigy Fat of the Land are quite good.

I wouldn't consider overly well recorded, but Apoptygma Berzerk's 7 is a great album to crank.

Although absolutely unconventional, Mum's "Yesterday is Traumatic Today is OK" is some of the most spectacular audiophile-electronica I've heard.  I played some on a monster McIntosh system at a demo and I suspect the owner nearly shat himself.  Also, Thievery Corp "The Cosmic Game" is pretty excellent (a bit loud in the mastering, however), and "The Mirror Conspiracy" is quite worthwhile too.  Just got The Knife "Silent Shout", and it's definitely worthy of investigation, too.

you should listen to radiohead's "kid A" at least once in your lifetime

Their amnesiac and hail to the thief albums aren't bad either

if you want a well mixed all digital mix try Ibiza Euphoria mixed by Matt Darey.

Here are some others:
In Search of Sunrise by Tiesto
The Thrillseekers Nightmusic Vol 1

as for singles most can be downloaded as 320kbps mp3 or wav.

I would include:

PhuturePrimitive  (1 album)

Kaya Project (2 albums)

Not really hardcore trance as much as it is really good downtempo electronic.

For something a touch more aggressive/eclectic/Dark I would look at Amon Tobin (a bunch of albums)

Kruder & Dorfmeister - The K&D Sessions
Hotel Costes - whole series, lost of jazz samples
Thievery Corporations'  The Mirror Conspiracy

Postal service - give up
Radiohead - Kid A

As others mentioned, Portishead, Massive Attack, Morcheeba, Boards of Canada.  But K&D & Hotel Costes would be the closest to "audiophile".

There are two chicks from norway that has amazing voices in the dance/trance scene.
They are Birgitte Moe and Camilla Henningsen. Although I would not say that
The groups Infinity and Reset have Audiophile quality to their records the two
female vocalists have worldsclass voices. Hence recomended on the grounds of the
feel they bring to the songs. In highend systems especially Camilla gets the hair on you back to jump for joy!

This is Birgitte: From the dance act "infinity"

She sounds like Sarah Brightman this woman!!! That's how good she is!!
The resemblance is uncanny!
All albums by Infinity are worth getting your greedy paws on!

This is Camilla: From the dance act "Reset"

If you guys wanna hear something she has done recently, open Windows media player 9
or newer and start this here Link
And go out to exactly 6 minutes and hear her sing "Free your mind" by en Vouge. Very good!
Camilla sounds like an arpeggio machine. A unique vibrato to her voice.
She can control it to an insane degree! We're talking Bobbi Mcferrin control!
She's a human synth this woman! Utterly pure voice.
I would say that Camilla has one of the best voice controls I have ever heard.
Any style.  Its a voice with a signature, that's right.
She sounds like no other vocalist. Different for sure.
She brings genuine emotional impact to the table.

If you have heard Celine Dion without her voice synth processing... You know it takes
quite the voice to sound good with synths as well...
There is a story about the producing of Kelly Osbourne from the studio...
She's supposed to get help from the "autotune" features you know...
But as we must have heard all of us... Somethings will present a problem...
Even for autotune... Yikes!!!  :duh:

I've always wanted to hear a duet with these two... norwegian lovelies.
But it hasn't happened yet! Alas!
Dang they have good voices!!!
 aa

Check out the hair on these lovelies! Awesome hair!!!

As an Audiophile I am an avid lover of the female voice!
It does not matter what style it is, musically, if the singer is good, I like it!

I include this here picture of Sarah Brightman, because I believe that NONE of you
would have recognized her in this one...

Sometimes something may look bland... like this here picture of Sarah.
But as we all know, hearing is believing. That's the Audiophile way of saying:
Seeing is believing... but as we all know, nothing could be more wrong... aa

Seek out the album "Calling you", by Reset. A Gem!
NB: There is a  French-Canadian punk rock band also called "Reset"...
It aint what we are talking about here...

I just heard a song on my radio, its a DAB radio, nifty those... you can see what's playing and some info on the song and stuff...

Anyway...
September - "Cry for you". (It sounded way compressed though...)

But that September production, (whoop the engineering guy's ass for compressing the shit out of it!!  :nono:)
was actually flawlessly made! This little cute song was just really jumping!
edit: It's Petra Marklund from Sweden ... producers from Ace of Base obviously and so on...

Recap:
I just saw the video on youtube...
They ought to punish the director for being a loony!!! How can you do this to an artist!!!
Scrap that awful crapvid, and make a new one!!! Please!!!
The song was fantastic! But the video reaks of dodo!!!
MAN!!! That was just painful!!!  :nono:

Talking of Sweden... aa

Marie Serneholt, now that's the most snazzy Swedish electronica/Pop artist these days.
This woman is DA BOMB!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esM77vOMLzE

We can generally say that the Nordic country's have some 50-150 REALLY good electronica acts...
And you will recognise the Swedish productions as unusually rhythmic and melodious.
Sweden does have some of the best producers of dance and music with spunk!
Being form Norway, that annoys the crap out of me!!!  aa
Of course the team "Star Gate" come from Norway. The hottest producers in USA now almost...
I like that!!! These guys are serious about their stuff! Hard working dudes!!! Yeah! Good stuff from Norway too you see!!!  :thumb:
