Surprised not more mentions of Goldfrapp, all of their albums have at least a few tracks that are very well recorded.  Also another one is Hooverphonic, especially "The Magnificent Tree" album has a ton of depth and ambience effects.  Nitin Sawhney has some great sounding tracks, Spark being my favorite, and also check out Bent, any of their albums but especially "Programmed to Love".  Oh, and almost forgot, Cinematic Orchestra would fit as well, though they use mainly acoustic instrumentation it is very much within the genre...

Happy listening!

Some excellently produced works:

Murcof's four albums Martes, Remembranza, Utopia and Cosmos.  Minimal foundations with classical hints.  Read any reviews and you'll see what I mean.

Anything by Trentemøller.

Early productions by Deadbeat.

Uusitalo is way out there but he's an ace producer, check out "Vapaa Muurari"

Stuff by Ulrich Schnauss, Boards of Canada and Carbon Based Lifeforms, for your lush ambient needs.

As far as rich trance/dance music goes, DeepSky's "In Silico" and Oakenfold's "Travelling" are some of my favs.
Aphex Twin was mentioned before. Specifically, I would recommend "Selected Ambient Works 85-92." It's probably his most accessible album as well as one of the definitive ambient/IDM records out there.
Orbital is another group you can't go wrong with. There are mixed feelings about their album "The Altogether" but for my money it's one of the most creative and fun to listen to electronica albums I've heard.
For good downtempo techno, Massive Attack and Postal Service top the list, but I would add "Terra Firma" by Sounds From The Ground. It's a nice kind of jazzy/trip hop mix. Very good chillout/ambient music.

I am new to this type music. I listen to the local University radio station at bedtime some nights. One show had completely disrupted my sleep. It is a Dance/electronic music show and the music is contagious. I especially like the electronic music with all the out of phase stuff. Makes the whole room full of music.

Nice, been meaning to check out The Field album.  I've got a couple of the Pop Ambient Kompakt collections and there is some good stuff on them.

Try some Chicane productions they tend to be very airy. If you like the out of phase stuff, try Art of Trance- Madagascar. Remember when you try different artists the sound/style can vary greatly depending on the remix(er).

Well. They are a product of what could be regarded as the Dutch/Belgian version of Disney Channel.
As I said...  :jester: They are fun... that's about it really!!
Uhm, So, Niahahah

Anyway, I never said I was a conservative musiclover..
Gawdon Bennet! But, I'll admi' ter thinkin' what Alison Goldfrapp is abaaaht as posh a diva as they come really. OK?  Soooooo...
You know what Alison would say if asked to comment on K3...
"Flippin Ick!"  :D

You know, Goldfrapp has such a unique style that when she does a cover version,
they don't say it's a cover, they say it's a Goldfrapp... Diva all the way man, Diva all the way that woman!  :thumb:

If you like House/Trance and also World music, you have to check out Cheb I Sabbah.

"Le Kahena"

"Devotion"

You might also check out Peace Orchestra

Yes that is a real bandaid.

I adore M83, a French Electronica band, but they would not be for everyone.  Check out "Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts" if shoegazer/My Bloody Valentine does anything for you.  It is like MBV filtered through a Moby production.

Hopefully these weren't mentioned yet.

M83 -  Dead Cities is a classic...Such an amazing album. Just the fullest, lushest electronic sounds ever. Every song is epic in it's on right. Have you listened to M83's newest album? Very different from Dead Citites, but it grew on me. An unmistakably 80's era sound, but a good handful of songs still work rather well for me.

Here's a freebie for you guys.  This is a big .rar, I think it was like 3.5 gig.  But it's 4 cd's in .wav that a good friend of mine mixed up.  I really enjoy his mix, it has smooth transitions, everything is mixed on key ... and uses killer material.

Enjoy!
