Very reasonable price! If nothing else this would make an awesome sub amp. But, they do say it is a very musical amp so maybe this is a breakthrough price:performance product. Pro audio does seem to be an untapped source for home audio, if nothing else then as platforms for mods. The ART DI/O is a great case in point.
"But i didn't know they would allow the thread, then make it difficult for people to find the thread."don, when ya posted that thread, it looked like an innocent-enuff thread to a-gon. but, when they realized it was a platform to adwertize yer mods, well, it was only a matter of time before it was gone! regards, doug s.
I'll wait for the feedback from unbias'd sources before taking any sort of opinion.$300 for the stock amp and $500 for the Mods,is that the cost?As I stated in a post before ,there are alot of great affordable amps .I am waiting for the new LeAmpII's which should be awesome for $400. If they do not do it for the Mids\Highs they should certainly do it for Bass in my horzontal amp setup.Happy listening!
Not too many Joule owners out there! I had read great things about the LA100 when I was doing my research on what to buy. This weekend I will compare the Joule to a DACT-based passive pre in my system. My system is something of an acid test for a passive pre - my amp has an input impedance of 8k ohms and my speakers are 86 db/watt (in)efficient. What does work in my favor is that my ICs are not terribly long (1m from source to pre, 1m from pre to amp). Yes, the Beringer may be too good to use as ...
Wow, for $220 street its sure worth a try! Wonder if they have them in Hong Kong. Would be a great amp, perhaps for biamping... get 2 of them plus an active XO... not for my system, of course...
Could someone post a link with a Photo of this amp.Could you share on what the stock versions specs are? What the Specs are after moding and what exactly is the moding? Like what components and other stuff is changed?I have a B&K that is modded and it does what I need.Alot better than the stock version. About the only fault is Bass could be alittle better. Comes very close to a Krell.
I would not use this to drive my speakers or Bass Drivers I do not think. Can it drive a 2ohm load?If it is clear in the upper frequencies with no veiling I might be able to use it for the Mid\High Drivers.100watts@8ohms and 130watts@4ohms is not really outstanding performance. The reason I want the LeAmpII's is it's ability to double it's output power with each halving of Impedance along with Toshiba Transistors and powerful Transformers. Is this amp Bias'd high into ClassA or is it ClassA? ...
Don,The new web site looks great! Congratulations.NB
Kudos on arranging for shipment of the stock amps right to you. That really takes a lot of the headache out of the mod approach. I'm surprised that more modders don't do this. So, who's biting on this? We need some unbiased (no offense Don) comparisons. I'd go in on a shiparound trial (a la Bolder's Mensa DAC)... I think that this would really pay off for you in spades.
I will investigate a "shiparound trial". I have to be sure that I will get the unit back. There are always a couple of dishonest souls out there that ...
