I will investigate a "shiparound trial". I have to be sure that I will get the unit back. There are always a couple of dishonest souls out there that ...

Agreed... but check out what Wayne is doing with his Mensa DIO. He's taking credit card #s "just in case". Also check out what was done with the DeZorel on total faith. But, this will really get some quick feedback for you and (if all goes as it seems you would expect) really get you busy with lots of orders.

Good luck!

I think I agree with you. I think I will look into traking the unit with a credit card number. With that assurance, I would have absolutely not problem sending a unit around. Thanks for the advice.  If you have anymore information onhow he is tracking the CC I would like to know, so that I can implement this procedure.

Thanks again,
Donald Nance Jr

Jack,

I am in for one of the initial DNA modified ART SLA-1 units.  I'll be doing a A-B comparison with my Odyssey Stratos after the unit burns in.  My system is posted here in case this is of interest.  More to come in a couple of weeks after Don gets through with the modifications and ships the unit.  Don was one of the initial folks who modified the ART DI/O to untap its hidden potential.

I've got a stock unit arriving here on Monday from Music123.com as they've got a 45 day return policy. I'll be listening to it with 3 different pairs of speakers (not all mine of course  ). Hey Don: That email you sent me this morning regarding your web site ( http://www.dn-audio.com ) had a very interesting tube guy on the list of names that got the same email as I did... :o .

I wrote to Agon asking why the thread was deleted and this was the response I got back:

Thank you for your recent submission to the Audiogon forums

Regrettably, we must decline adding it to the permanent archive. Your question
may have been answered already, or it may be inappropriate for our forums.
Since the ART thread was not conforming to the subject matter, it was removed.
If the thread is posted again, we will post it and make sure that all posts to
the thread relate to the subject matter.

Your submission is below.

QUESTION:
ART Amp thread was Censored out, why?

DETAILS:
I was just wondering why the thread was deleted out? If the monitors would write
me that would be good also.

Have no affiliation with DNA or ART.

I don't get it. This part ("If the thread is posted again, we will post it and make sure that all posts to
the thread relate to the subject matter.") makes no sense. All the threads were related to the subject matter. I bet the guys that were going to review the stock unit and compare to other notable amplifiers  might have posted some findings that Audiogon didn't want there paying advertisers to see. Oh, well the word is going to get out, they can't hide. I know one guy was going to compare to his Parasound Halo JC-1 and post the results. Alas that thread is gone. Perhaps he will post on this site.

Best regards,
Don

I tried to post the following on Audiogon just now:

Since Audiogon removed the first thread related to the ART SLA-1 amplifier based on reasoning I can't really make sense of, I will re-post being careful not to advertise services. I would simply like to read peoples exerience with the unit as compared to other amplifiers. I believe some people were about to post their findings when the post went the way of the DoDo. Now, lets see if this is good enough to not get axed after having nearly 60 responses.

Regards,
d911

We will see if it makes it.

I'm curious ABEX why you are even interested in Don's Audiogon thread when you've already decided that his modded SLA1 amp is a ripoff and are set on purchasing the new norh amps?

WOW, i didn't even know that. Thanks eric the red.  I am trying to be as open and fair to everyone as I can, I know there are people out there that mean me harm (not necessarily you Abex) but it is hard for to try to keep track of everything that everyone has said on every forum. I just try to answer the valid questions the best I can.

Don

Earlier in this thread ABEX posted that "I'll wait for the feedback from unbias'd sources before taking any sort of opinion " but then decides on another norh thread that your modded design is a ripoff, saying (without of course actually HEARING  the amp)  that "The ART Audio amp that goes for $230 and is being modded for $500 does not have the power and capability of these amps and I think it is just short of a ripofff unless they are really dynamic or I am really missing something". Thanks again eric the red. That is too bad. People that judge things without hearing them really get my goat. I loose any respect i may have had for those that engage in ghost reviewing.

Don Nance / "audiodilbert":

I've just noticed your little deception on Audio Asylum:

http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/tweaks/messages/83630.html

Kindly don't try anything similar here. Thanks.

(For those who are wondering: yes, all of d911's posts on this site are also from the IP address 66.56.85.250)

thanks, borg, for pointing this out.  i feel badly for inadvertantly helping the perpetrator here.  it's my feeling that, if a product is good, self promotion isn't needed - the word will get out.

the art di/o *is* a good dac, & even better modded.  some day, i may try a stock art amp - not much to lose, w/30-45 day returns offered.  (the thought had crossed my mind anyway, what w/the results i had w/the di/o).  but re: modding it, i am sure it won't be long before art amps mods are out there in the public domain, & i will either diy, as i did w/the di/o, or hire someone a bit less unscrupulous.

Common sense here must question taking a relatively low priced product and adding DOUBLE that cost in modification prices, all from someone who has been caught practicing deception on 2 audio forum sites now. It would seem to make more sense to be doing business with someone with a little positive feedback and ALLOT of reputation. But by all means D911, KEEP IT UP, this has been very entertaining following your antics and the resulting calamity! Thanks, :argue: . Regards, Robin

Good catch!!!  He even went throught the effort of registering two different Asylum user accounts, and two email addresses.  Little did he know that his IP address would do him in.

A well deserved end!

Eric the red, I am sorry you are upset because i would not mod your SACD player for less than $200.00. I told you the guy at sacdmods.com was not off base to want $335.00 - $350.00 for what he was asking for his mods. I did not agree with everything he was doing but hey, that's his mod. Far as the issue of the ip address, this cable internet connection is shared by multiple people as I stated on the Ayslum.

I knew it was a commercial scam all along but ewe were so enthusiastic I didn't want to spoil your fun.  I'm the Psychic--right?

For those who are looking for great amplification on a reasonable budget, Dusty told me his 40W class A monoblocks will be out soon in the next couple of months!  Price will be around $900 for the pair...

D911, are you really going to use that excuse????  So either you made the post, or someone on "the inside" made the post, same thing to me....

You just lost all credibility
