AND, the only component that I had plugged into the DeZoral was my Mensa DI/O dac. Why? Because unless I wanted to undo a lot of wiring I had to chose between plugging in the dac or plugging in the pre and amp. Since my amp supposedly has very good built-in power filtration, I chose to plug in the dac. My frame of mind right now is, imagine how much better the sound would be if my Cary (used as a transport) and Joule pre pre had a DeZoral filter upstream... (I'd also plug in the amp to see what happens).
Here's a very big thanks to Guan for lending me his LF-P1. And, no, you're not getting it back too quickly!!!!!!
... Of course, I the price I told her was for the Audio Reference Senior.
Jay, you are the only one so far that has done a *proper* evaluation of the DeZorel. You only plugged ONE component and it happened to be the noisiest component in a system, the DAC. The only other component I would try to plug in the same module would be the transport--maybe.Excellent!
Psychicanimal,Your comments about Jay doing a proper evaluation by testing only one component with the filter at a time make perfect sense to me; however, I get the idea your advice/comments extend beyond the evaluation phase and into everyday use. Do you feel it's best to use a dedicated filter or isolation device for EACH component? If so, what would you recommend for the average system (say under $5k) where a person plans to spend no more than $500 on power?. I've been thinking of doing something like a BPT Jr. for my front end leaving the amp plugged into the wall or maybe a used PS Audio UO if I find one, or the small DeZorel with a good power strip for filtering everything. I get the idea you think this is a bad idea, but better than nothing? I believe some devices like the 15 amp Exact Power voltage regulator are designed for the entire system, but that's more than just a filter I guess.
