Plug only your DVD on the DeZorel.  Listen.  Next unplug DVD and hook up just your processor.  Listen.  Unplug processor and plug your TV/projector only.  Watch a movie.  Repeat as desired...

And in closing, listen to your entire system without, and then with everyhting on line. Use a power distribution strip of preferably reasonable quality for the gang bang.

Cheers,
DVV

I can't run things on just the DeZorel as it takes a minimum of 6 outlets to run things. So it's either going to be 2 things running on the DeZorel & everything else on my Monster HTS-3500's, or everything on the DeZorel through the HTS-3500's.

I do have a 20A dedicated line running on 10/2 Romex with an Eagle 20A IG8300RN Hospital grade isolated ground industrial outlet. I've also got a 15A line that's shared with many things in the basement that's got a crappy $0.50 15A outlet on it. Don't know if the 15A shared circuit is on 14/2 or 12/2 Romex.

Bubba,

I see that you really need to make yourself a power strip wired in parallel.  I would use Maple or some other hardwood, if possible, for the housing (ever seen pictures of the big wooden Cardas Power Box?).  Everything would be hooked to the dedicated line through the strip and in a very specific order, which is posted in the NAIM website.  Using cryo'ed outlets and power plug would be the best thing to do.  You could then selectively filter your digital gear (DVD, processor) with anything you like.  That would be the best route.  I have exerimented doing this setup and with NO filtration and the sound improves substantially.  I have purchased a demo Essence A/V Power strip for the 2 ch HT setup I'm working on.  It has a very beefy integrated power cord and it's wired in plarallel.  I will add isolation transformers for the DVD and preamp.   You can use the DeZorel or Monster (I'd sell the Monster) to filter DVD and the processor.  Dollar for dollar, this will give you the best results by far.

Send me an e-mail if you're interested in joining the cryo outlet group purchase.  You can send your own or get the Hubbells for $16 apiece.  Also, Virtual Dynamics and Dedicated Audio will sell you cryo'ed stuff.

Regards,

Francisco

It arrived on my porch not too long ago. Will start playing with it when it warms up a bit as it's damn cold. Looks like it survived UPS. But the shipping box is getting a bit worn out. I'll have to see if I can find a sturdier replacement when I ship it to OBF. ...

One last thing - try it with both music extremes, i.e. with quiet chamber or acoustic music (e.g. classic guitars), and something very complex, preferably with much electronic instruments, such as synthesizers (because of their extreme rise times, they are a good measure of speed).

It's not as if I was pushing you guys, but by my admittedly loose count, you are nearing the end of the cycle. Don't you think it's time you guys started putting together a list of what you want? Remember, they need 30 days to make it, most hand made products need time.

Hmmm looking at the order of people it seems that it would make a lot more sense from a logistics point of view (can't help it, my father is a logistics manager and I have had lots of Operations Research) that we should rearrange the list to minimize shipping and wait time.

Actually it seems logistically reasonable to take Mark J and push him up before Brian S and then it is a pretty sound logistics problem.  Maybe not mathematically optimal but close enough.

Hey Beezer, "SF Bay Area" stands for "Science Fiction Bay Area", right? I mean, that's where like 80% of the US science fiction authors live or used to live.

Kidding aside, my one great regret of my three visits to the US always was never seeing SanFran. I am somehow drawn to that place, no idea why, I have a feeling I'd like it there.

Josh,

Even though the list doesn't reflect it, I believe Brian is sending it to me next (Mark J) and I'll send it to Mike in CO.  But after that?  I agree it would make sense to do some heavy duty logistical engineering of the list to optimize time and shipping expense  :D

DVV, Home Entertainment 2003 will be held in SF June 5-8, so maybe you could rationalize the trip that way.  It really is a great area with SF at its center.  I'm a small town boy (Ithaca, NY), so I  don't think I'll ever get use to the congestion and real estate prices, but otherwise it's pretty idyllic.

Jerry,
I gave it two 6's for ratings, so you can at least update me.

This is what I understood as well. But since OBF/Mark J is in Oregon it might be better to ship it to Mark C in Ontario and have him ship it to me. Seems that it would be less expensive shipping it from Oregon to Ontario than from Colorado to Ontario.

It's cool either way.

Actually guys, we had better push me to the bottom of the list because I'm waiting for my amp to return from Odyssey. It should be here next week, but to be safe lets move me to the back of the line. :(

FYI: I do not decide who gets it next. I'm only showing the list and 'suggested' order of travel. Whoever currently has it is the one who ultimately decides where it goes next.

Of those on the list, who is planning on actually bidding for the demo unit being passed around? Remember, when everyone is done, we will be selling it and splitting the proceeds.

well Mark C, if you want to be last I am sure the shipping from NY to ON wouldn't be that bad.  Depends on where in ON you are.

I'm just north of Toronto, On. I had a tuner sent to me from NY in Dec. and if I remember correctly it was about $18.

Does anyone have an idea why the DeZorel's ground is disconnected? I can't seem to find my outlet tester so I don't know exactly what's going on. But my HTS3500's both tell me that the circuit isn't grounded when I plug them into the DeZorel.

Had anyone checked this while they had it?

Bubba,
I'm glad you checked it. I hope I didn't screw up the connections to the Hubbel outlet. This was how I wired it.
neutral = purple or blue
hot = brown
green/yellow = ground

Can you see inside the Hubbel to verify? If not can you dissamble the Hubbel and check/fix all the connections. No soldering is needed.

Also can you try listening to it before making any changes, and the re-listening afterwards, if any changes are needed?

Ah-HA!  I bet it was Jerry's shoddy wiring that killed the last unit!   :P  (Just kidding)

Hell, there's probably 200 microns of tar and nicotine on the ground wire.  A good cleaning would probably get a positive continuity check! Ha!
