Your first concert, year, age
« on: 12 Jan 2013, 04:18 pm »

My first concert was Emerson Lake & Palmer in West Virginia 1973. I was 15 years old at the time.
Brain Salad Surgery had just come out and the arena was setup for Quadraphonic sound.
Keith Emerson’s keyboards were huge with patch cords coming out everywhere.
Carl Palmers drum kit and solo were amazing.
Greg Lake’s voice and bass playing filled and bounced all around the arena with the Quad setup.
I’ll never forget that day ELP was larger than life and it seemed like it was all a big dream.

My first rock/pop concert was the Steve Miller band in 1971 at Cobo Arena in Detroit.  This unheard of Canadian band (at the time) named Rush was the opening act.  Shortly after, saw the Doors (post Jim Morrison) in early 72 at the Michigan Palace.  Both concerts were excellent.

I had been to a few symphonies prior to that as a kid while growing up.

It was probably, and I'm not certain about this, Chicago Transit Authority. It was 1968 and I was 18.

Mine was Hendrix, Winterland,SF  1968. It took me about a minute to realize live music was the coolest thing on earth!

B.B. King, 1970, 13 years old.
I saw him last week. He still has the chops though he has to remain seated now.

My first Concert was Yes as well. But I beat you my an album/tour.   Mine was 1978, "Tormato" tour.
Also was at the "Drama" tour a couple of years later. Unfortunately, Jon Anderson did not tour with them that round.
