Greetings  :D

I think that most of us are plagued by this very issue of storage, except of course, for our music file friends - please note that Laundrew is certainly green with envy.  Anyway, I have come to a middle of the road solution and have greatly appreciated all of the input and suggestions that fellow Audio Circle members have offered over the last few months.

As the listening room is currently undergoing renovations, one of its new features will be a built-in CD storage rack, which will hopefully store well over 1000 CDs. As Gothic music is most "near and dear" to me, this capacity should hopefully last for many years and by then, Lady Laundrew and I will be in our next house - please "read" larger listening room

The mainstream music - or what I term as alternate music will be stored in another area of our home.

Be well...

No way can I keep up with Laundrew on new Music purchases.

This week, I've picked up:

"Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble -   Real Deal vol 1"

I've got most of these tracks on other SRV CDs that I own.  I guess I picked it up because they're all in one place.

"Steve Perry - For the Love of Strange Mediciine"

and, due to the recommendation of some here on Audio Circle:

"Cowboy Junkies - The Trinity Session"

It has some interesting song choices.  It seems to be nicely recorded as well. I need to listen to it some more.

Great news on your SACD - I feel your pain as there are not many Gothic music genre releases in SACD also.

no metal has been left out mostly in sacd, but i will give my opinion.
if you can get a metal band on sacd it is beyond belief. I pay an average, again an average of 50 to 100 per cd, which stinks but to quote my boss for 22 years...... it is what it is

I'd love to get into hi-res, but I can't find much of anything I actually want to listen to in hi-res.  where's the Metallica, Zeppelin, Sabbath, etc stuff?

For hi-res, I guess I'll have to stick to what is the original and true hi-res - vinyl  :thumb:

Laundrew has come to the realization that collecting music is his hobby and listening to music is his passion - suddenly it all seems to make sense   :thumb:

I was going to say pace yourself, Laundrew, it's a long year.  But then I realized 2 things:

1) It's not really a long year, as leap year was last year

2) Life's short

Greetings Stu  :D

Normally I would not amass this many CDs this quickly but it has almost been "the perfect storm" effect so far - right place at the right time

Six Black Sabbath albums were released on SHM-SACD in 2011-2012: Black Sabbath, Master of Reality, Paranoid, Volume Four, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Heaven And Hell.

These are some very impressive lists.  So far this year I have been concentrating on trying to get my cables right and my music purchases are relatively modest.

Tchaikovsky - A compilation - Overture "1812" Op.49; Marche Slave Op.31 and Romeo & Juliet - Fantasy Overture by the London symphony Orchestra - Andre Previn
Diana Krall - Glad Rag Doll
Melody Gardot - The Absence
The Beatles "White" (latest version - somewhat better than second)
The Beatles - Sgt. Peppers (much better than 1st, I don't have the second)
John Mayall w/Eric Clapton - Blues Breakers
Piano Man - The Very Best of Billy Joel (Sony Music, (K2/HD) not recommended - poorly remastered)
James Taylor - Walking Man (from the original master tapes)
The Band - from the original master tapes
Paul McCartney - Kisses on the Bottom (interesting if you like McCartney - his attempt at jazz)

Good Listening to All,
Mike

Just ordered the entire Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds from a US Distributer. Looks to be about 13 double cd's ( one in 5.1 surround with videos, interviews and the makings of...). These are the 2012 remasters.
Alot of listening in the next few weeks when they arrive.  :thumb:

Chicago,  how do you like that Diana Krall recording?   I've thought about picking it up, but I don't have any of her recordings.

Yesterday, I picked up  Joe Walsh - Analog Man  at Barnes and Noble.
