now thats what we are talking about Hugh.  the cage looks nice.  is there a similar version for the amps as well ?

Melody includes cages with all their products.  We just don't usually show them off that way.

Yeah I never thought I would be able to use that expression again.   Dirt Cheap!   Is there an easy way to do No Rez?  Is it easier and as effective to use vinyl tile?   As long as we are opening up each speaker cave we should do as much as we can.

I agree Steve.   Lets pull the guts out and line it with no Rez fill with polyfil and change the cross overs.

Sounds good.  I'm in.   No Rez is cuttable with good scissors, just not as pretty as with a proper saw.

Does it have to be pretty to be effective?

How much are the Crossover upgrades and do we have choices or levels of upgrade, how much no rez do we need per LS6 or LS9?

There is a current thread by Mojave, a guy building his LS6's.  His Poly Fill and No Rez work seems really good.

Guys,

You are brave. :)

It's going to take a lot of patience to do everything this way.
It's much easier when you start with an empty cabinet than what you have right now.

You can get everything you'll need from Danny, less the polyfill of course.
Also, regarding polyfill, you won't want to jam it in tight.
Just lightly add little by little until it fills the cavity around the port tube.

Hugh, texting and driving to RMAF is dangerous!  DOONDOONDOON do it!   What else are we going to find when we open up these AV123 cabinents?  MLS raffle winners prizes?  Lunch wrappers?  When do you leave for Denver?

Good idea Steve. :)

We'll be leaving tomorrow.

The thing with doing No-Rez are these:
1. Unscrew all drivers and hope you won't make any mistakes as to break off soldering joints,...
2. Remove whatever av123 glued to the cabinets walls.
3. Clean the walls thoroughly prior to applying No-Rez.
4. The rest is easy.

Good luck. ;)

Aint that the truth.

Step 2 makes your hands look like you just finished fighting a cat.

Of course in the end it IS worth it. :thumb:

Mojave, made it look easy because as you can see in one of his pictures he has 4 hands.  I think he might be an illegal alien!

i just have a feeling that getting the no rez will be a problem.  other steps appear to be more manageable.  roll up your sleeves and get ready.  when do you want to do the upgrade ?

You guys might as well order all Sonicaps from Danny to replace the Erse ones you have. :)

We should all look under the hood to see if we want or have to take out the AV123 poor mans No Rez.  Take out one of the woofers and look inside.   Then we'll go shopping.   I have a flight out to Florida and I'm back on weds night late.  I'll let you know what I've got then.

Hugh, how many caps are we replacing?

You got to look at the crossover you have to count the number of Erse caps then replace those.
You may also want to replace the Erse resistors with Mundorfs' or so.
