Still looking at options on this docking station idea but costing keeps rearing it's ugly head.  I am working on another idea that may work out - will let you know how it goes.

A Dutch company designed a high end (and dead silent) solution.

Not cheap... Then again, it does come with hard disks installed.
Maybe James can give them a call?

Just throwing an idea out here.  I know that the BDE has come up primarily to meet the need of those who already own a BDP and want a matching Bryston case to host their drives but might there be potential for saving on manufacturing cost (efficiency) and at the same time acquiring new clients looking for a simplified one-box music server / storage alternative by bringing the BDP and BDE together in one-box?

So it would be a single Bryston component that includes the BDP and BDE - you buy the one component and your storage and delivery is all solved within one box 2 rack height enclosure.

Suggested price would be BDP + $1000?

Has anyone used the OWC rack mount drive enclosure?  I'm not sure if the raid options would work with the BDP.  The form factor would work well with the BDA/BDP "stack", at least better than hard drives sitting exposed for the cats to play with.

The hinged front access panel to the drives is very convenient and provides clean lines - perhaps a consideration for the BDE.

This seems to be so thin and non isolated, I can almost hear the drives humming from here....How can this be 'deadsilent'? Must be one of the ultimate questions.

Otherwise looking good!

For ~$720.00 USD, I would get one to try out but I'm not computer literate enough to know how the raid options would work with the BDP-1.  Any opinions??

How goes your idea James?

A docking station with power supply and USB hub etc. is not looking good given the cost so I am looking at some other ideas.
