A propane torch isn't very quick or convenient. A plastic spray bottle, which I keep ready full of denatured alcohol (shellac thinner) will squirt out a flame two or three feet.

Sounds like we all spent time in the same Juvenile Delinquent facility.

Gawd, those were fun times, and we learned SO much!  Now, where'd I leave that Det cord?   

Since we're on a photo topic, here's another photographer's trick..........many years ago large flashbulbs were produced that had the standard 110v base.

You'd sneak up on someone's porch (it was important there were windows in the door, extra points if the glass had curtains), quietly unscrew the bulb in the porch light and replace it with the monster flashbulb.

Then knock on the door and run like hell. Unsuspecting homeowner would pull back the curtains while flipping the light switch.  WHOOMPH!

Only risk?  If the light bulb were burned out and you screwed the flashbulb in a live socket, your fingers were toast and you'd be blind while trying to vacate the premises at high speed.............

Seriously, one hit with Raid and black widows do the dance of death.
