This weekend I compared the 45 RPM with my very good original issue (described earlier in this thread). I listened to the original first, then the 45 RPM, then Oh Daddy and Gold Dust Woman again from the 33 1/3 to get a fresh comparison with the 45 RPM version. While the 33 1/3 is a very good recording and sounds great, listening to the 45 RPM version is a jaw-dropping WOW experience. Greater dynamics are the first thing I noticed along with more of a "the band has to be in the room" sound. There is more music, GREAT imaging and soundstage, more depth, clarity and detail. The sound is very clean from top to bottom on a dead quiet surface. The 33 1/3 sounded great before the comparison and a little dull or flat compared to the 45 after listening to the 45.

IMO, if you liked the original, you will love the 45. If Rumours is a favorite album, then the 45 is a "must have" and easily worth the $44 I paid. They did a terrific job with this one. The title of this thread is spot on--The 45 RPM Rumours is fantastic! Get yours while you can.

I hope record companies will do more 45 RPM reissues of great albums from the past. If they do, I might have to find a second job

Just as aside here....last night 'Glee' was on.  I'm not an avid watcher, and only caught about 20 minutes of it.

But, the theme for last night's show was great - it was the music from Rumours for the hour.

Talented kids - great album.  My original 1970's version is scratchy bought 2nd hand within the past 5 years...but still sounds great.

I suspect those of you to have bought remastered at 45RPM are digging it that much more  :thumb:

I like 45 RPM LPs.  I bet it sounds good.  It's just that I was so sick of Rumours from forced overdose.  Maybe I will give it a shot...

It may sound trite but it's true: even though you have heard it thousands of times before, it will be like hearing it anew.

Got some good news from Elusive Disc, they give me a refunded today, so the total cost was $49.00.
What a great sounding LP, I have a original, Warner Germany 180g repressing and the DVD-A, this new 45 LP is my favorite by far. I need to make a digital high res copy of this.

Sorry - but I can't understand why nobody had mentioned it in this thread !

There are two different versions of the 2 LP 45 rpm set available !

The first one is the RSD version mastered by Gray and Hoffman from
analog tapes in 2007:

sonically, it can be identified by a hi-hat and bass drum countdown in Gold Dust Woman:

http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showpost.php?p=6436283&postcount=41

This version has a rounded gold sticker on the front cover:

with: "PRESSED AT PALLAS" in the last row and on the back cover it reads:

"Made in U.S.A."

Dead wax: KG + SH @ ATM

The second Version:

has a pointed gold sticker on the front cover with:

"9362-49793-4" in the last row and "Manufactured in the E.U." on the back cover.

Dead wax: BB 33895-01 A2 HL
               BB 33895-01 B1 HL
               BB 33895-02 C1 HL
               BB 33895-02 D1 HL

This record set is made by Optimal Media in East Germany probably from a digital source.

I sure do hope I get an RSD copy. I ordered it a couple months ago on Amazon and apparently didn't make the first run. Please PM me if someone knows of one sitting on the shelve somewhere.

On Monday I received my weekly email from Music Direct that lists new music available and about 1/3 of the way down the email was this announcement about the 45 RPM version of Rumours:
Quote
Do Not Miss the Award-Winning Sound of the Fleetwood Mac Rumours 45 RPM Pressing... Shipping Later This Week

MD says it will ship in 3-7 days from the time you order it. I don't know for sure, but it sounds like they are expecting another shipment.

I got lucky and found a copy at a local store here in Canada for $35. Wasn't sure if the price was a miss print or not but wasn't about to leave it there. Was really surprised to see it at all.  :o
