Fast, fair and quality, what more can you ask for?

I use Chris's (Timbernation) platform under my Spectron Musician III amp. The craftmanship is "Excellent". Great workmanship at VERY fair prices. Check out his platforms, you won't be sorry.

Welcome Chris.  I am going to order some platforms from you soon.  Meantime, I have a product suggestion for you:

Did you ever think about drilling some of your larger platforms for those large threaded rods (I have some that are I think 5/8" and around 36" tall).  Sell them in batches of 3-4 finished, ship them flat, and we go to home depot or something and buy the rods.  One could spray paint the rods in a flat black (or leave them plain), and have a very sweet looking, solid, and reasonably priced stereo rack.  :)

Chris has something better than a flexy rack (and more attractive) in the works.  Just wait and see.

Maple Platform Rack

I am Making  this now
A rack with 5 shelves 2" thick 24"x16" with 4 maple post 2 1/2 square
The post will be mounted on the sides and  Dadoed  out 1" deep and 2 " high to fit the shelfs into.
I will bore a pilot hole to screw Lag bolts  into the shelfs to make sure it is good and strong
I will fit it all in the shop and number all the pieces and  all you will have to do is put some glue ( which will make it a lot stronger and stable) or no glue in the dado slots and screw the Lag bolts in   and insert maple plugs to hide the bolts
The post would be on the sides
This will be STRONG and ATTRACTIVE

How much will this cost?

Got to love Montrose...they were one of the bands at my first concert in the mid 70's.  Sammy Haggar is still one of my favorite (Red) rockers!

solid vs glued platforms

There is a lot of talk in the Stereo Forums about Solid vs. Butcher Block
Let me explain what Solid Means or what it dose not mean.
Solid Wood means that the product is made out of all Wood, No Particle Board, MDF. or Plywood.
It does not mean that the Product is one solid piece of Wood without Glue Joints.
All the bigger Blocks have Glue Joints. There are some small blocks up to 11" wide that are one piece but anything bigger is glued together. All the most popular on the Web have glue joints
AND I MEAN ALL
If you think there are some on the market that are solid please email me.
Glue does not hinder the sound of Music, considering the glue in a block soaks into the wood and is then coated with Lacque-polyurethane or another finish.  Musical Insturments are glued together,Guitars are glued together, Violins are glueed together, ect, ect.
A Laminated Block is 10 times as strong as a Single Piece and 10 times less likely to Warp.
All the pieces in a laminated butcher block fight against each other and cannot move.
Therefore they conform to each other and become like one piece of wood and stay very flat.

Air Dried vs. kiln dried
Musical insturments are made out of both Air Dried and Kiln Dried Wood
Kiln dried means - Baked in a oven or dehumidified till the water content of the wood is 7%
Air Dried Means - The wood dries to the amount of moisture in the air, average is 12% to 23%
After wood is kiln Dried and is reintroduced into the atmosphere it also attains the moisture level of the Air that it is in.
If the moisture content of the air is 15% that is what the moisture content of the wood will be
It's like this: In the summer time a wood door will swell up and stick shut but in the winter when your house is real dry the door will open and close very easily.
So whether the block is Air Dried or Kiln Dried does not make one bit of difference
The wood will attain the Humidity of the room it is in.
What makes the difference is THE HUMIDITY OF THE ROOM THE BLOCK IS IN

If you have any comments please feel free to email me Thanks

Hi Chris,

Some great looking products chris!  Did you do the stencil work on the fireplace log holder?

Just wondering if you could rattle off a quick quote for a sandbox (the block and box) with a dimension of  14" by 17" In the butcherblock maple.

as well i love the idea of the Cd player curly maple case, care to tell us price wise what we would be looking at?  My player is 13-7/8" x 17" x 3-7/8"

cheers,
Colin Hill

I am looking forward to adding them into my system.

Chris, how long is it taking to fill an order?
