Welcome Chris.  I am going to order some platforms from you soon.  Meantime, I have a product suggestion for you:

Did you ever think about drilling some of your larger platforms for those large threaded rods (I have some that are I think 5/8" and around 36" tall).  Sell them in batches of 3-4 finished, ship them flat, and we go to home depot or something and buy the rods.  One could spray paint the rods in a flat black (or leave them plain), and have a very sweet looking, solid, and reasonably priced stereo rack.  :)

Here is a better idea

Here it is.
Sorry it took so long but I have been very busy.
I didn't like the idea of threaded rods (cheapens the rack)  so I made Maple post.
This is the unfinished version.
This rack will come unassembled for shipping purposes and it will be easy to assemble.
It also weighs around 200 lbs.
I think the weight and thickness of the shelves will  provide both great isolation and immunity from transferring vibration (sytem and electrical) through the system.
The result: use brass cones (cone point into the wood) between the component and the platform and voila the best of both worlds.

I learned that from JoshK

I can make this with more or less shelves

I will post pics of the finished Rack in a few days.

Woah, that sucker is BIG!  :o

So, I know you've got the massive down to a fine art but how are you with the small and relatively thin, say, 7x6x2" and 1/2" thick walls? I ask because I'm thinking of having a small wood amp case built and a nice solid base for it to sit on.

I haven't decided yet but I'd like to know what you think.  :D

I just ordered a six shelf rack in cherry.  Chris is a real nice, down to earth guy.  I could tell when I was talking to him that he is almost as excited to build this rack as I am to get the finished product.  He said he hasn't built one in cherry yet.

I will keep everyone posted on its progress.

Cherry is one of my favorite woods.  I like its grain, color and its character with photo sensitivity.    I am sure you are really going to enjoy your shelfs.   It will probably last longer than you or I.

Great looking stuff!!

I'm thinking my Fisher 500C would look terrific in a custom case like the curly maple one on the website.

With 1/2" holes bored in the side of the post  tapped out to receieve a 2-1/2"  #14 screw or with wood srews made from  maple wood. Each shelf and post is numbered and all you have to do is match up the numbers and insert the screws, It takes a total time of 15 minutes
