Chris,

Can't wait to see my new platforms.

After I get them, I might have you do some more work and replace my homemade equipment rack.

Chris is making me a double stand for two pairs of Rowland 201s.  They will be done in curly maple with a natural satin finish.   I told Chris I didn't want a "square" look so he is going to do some creative rounding with a router.  Should look really cool when completed.  Can't wait!
He definitely thinks we audiophools are an interesting bunch

FedEx truck pulled up yesterday with a surprise package from Chris.

My new amp stands had arrived. They were packed very well.

I ordered two stands 12 x 14", overall 8" high, finished in natural maple.

Finish & construction were very nice.

I installed some speaker spikes on both stands and immediately put them to good use.

When you say 8" high, do you mean the platforms are 8' thick?

If that is the case, what was the reason behind going 8" thick vs a different thickness?

Can you post pictures?

Speaker Stands.
This is a 4" cube made of Maple and finished flat black with Lacquer.
It can be left natural or made with any wood you desire.
The center grooves are  v-grooves.
It can be made to any size you want

Chris,

I will post some pics tomorrow of my amps on top of the platforms, but I just wanted to say - NICE WORK!!

Not only do things look nice, but it improved the sound of the system as well.

I have to give you a call and see about some other work.

Thanks again.

:o  Hey Chris, I like those speaker stands, very sharp. 8) I just might have to consider 4 of these in a 9" x 14" x 2" maple block w/flat lacquered black finish for my Lorelei's. :D Regards, Robin

Looks great!  I love cherry!  Did you notice any changes in sound?  Particularly imaging and soundstage?

After seeing that beautiful curly maple amp stand for Horsehead, I just ordered from Chris a nice table made from the same wood.

Here they are- The Rowland 201s are sitting on a Sistrum SP-003 Single Platform

The rest of the gear is temporarily sitting on some old MDF shelves until my 4 platforms from Critical Mass Systems get here next week.  They are being done in Bird's Eye Maple.  Here is a picture of one for the BPT 3.5-

Horsehead,

Beautiful looking system!

What are the rest of your components including speakers (I see the Rowlands & the BPT 3.5 Signature)

Also what is on top of the BPT & do you plug everything into the BPT?

Chris did nice work on the amp stands.

Thanks guys!  The rest of the gear includes:  Wadia 861SE CD player with Statement mods from Great Northern Sound Co, Sony SCD-XA9000ES SACD Player, Aesthetix Calypso Tube Linestage, SP Technology Continuum AD loudspeakers, Sonoran Plateau interconnects and speaker cables, and a couple of Silent Source Signature power cords.
The "red line" feeding the BPT 3.5 is a dedicated run of JPS Labs In-Wall AC cable run directly back to the AC mains panel.  Everything is plugged in to the 3.5, including my home theater gear.

Back to Chris' products-  the quality of the stands are excellent and although they are only supporting the 13lb Rowlands, I honestly think you could put 500lbs on these things and they wouldn't flinch. The construction is overkill and SOLID.  You wouldn't believe me if I told you the care he put into shipping them. The box he used was literally the size of a small refrigerator.   I have enough packing "peanuts" to last me 40 years.

Chris did a great job and I would encourage anyone interested in well built, attractive stands/platforms to have Chris  make it for you.
