Hello V,
I auditioned the 7B SST², 28B SST² (note - unmodified units) and the Krell FBI integrated amplifier with the JBL 1400’s. The Krell FBI is also a most awesome integrated amplifier - a quality unit for sure. The CD players were the BCD-1 and the Esoteric X-05. The audio produced by all 3 of these amplifiers was outstanding and none of these systems were lacking in any way.
My preference leaned toward the BP-26, 28B, X-05 and JBL 1400 combination. The dealer also had the Project Array 800 and 1000 on the floor. Imagine my surprise when I heard the improvement in audio of my post modified 28B’s - wow.
I have not heard the K2’s or Everests as of yet - I will some day and I look forward to it. I am just curious how much these two speakers go beyond the 1400’s performance.
Be well...
Laundrew,
I suppose the BP-26 and 28B really make the 1400's sing

As said, the 1400's are great speakers. Believe it or not: The Everests are far better !! They are the best I've ever heard. Hearing is believing.
A hi-fi enthusiast with a PhD (topic for his thesis was DAC) once wrote (maybe 6 years ago) that quality/price flattens out at (his estimates):
* $ 170 000 for speakers
* $ 17 000 for amplifiers
* $ 1 500 for CD-players
and for cables the limit is very low (or no audible differences are found at any price).
Add 20%, say, for inflation, and you have today's "limits".
His estimates clearly say that we have to pay a lot to reach the top for speakers.
