Not sure what Nagy's goal was with the "best in the world" claim, but it sure did generate a lot of attention.

Hey, that's called marketing and it seems like it worked extremely well.  Yes, it's hype that can never be measured nor held accountable, but if it gets you to try it, then hey, you just might like it.  All of Norbert's products are well priced and they don't have to beat everything else in the world - they just have to be beat whatever you're already using when you decide to give them a try.

My claim of "Best audio cables in the world" is marketing for sure, but with TRUTH behind it! Unlike a lot of other products being sold these days. Ask yourselves, what is the goal of an audio cable? The answer is rather simple... To transfer the signal with 100% integrity. There are no cables in the audio industry today that will test better than Nagys cables and that is guaranteed!

I arrived to the party late on Sat, so I didn't hear them in Bob's system.  Ruined my day!   :icon_lol:

I do have the cables now.   My system is in a significant state of flux (burning in new woofers, new phono stage, and auditioning several amps) but I will get to it ASAP and do the best I can.

Who's next on the list?  My speakers have strange binding posts that require bare wire so I can't use the SC, nor can I use the the balanced IC or the digital cable.  So if someone local wants to try them, get in touch.

John

PS:  It was great to finally meet some of you local guys in the flesh and put a face / real name to the AC avatar / handle.      :thumb:

That would be me, John.  8)  I'm looking for new speaker cables and I can try out the digital IC as well.

Just want to see who has the cables at the moment. People are anxiously awaiting to have a listen and read reviews. There's no reason for any single person to hold these cables for more than a week. So let's keep it moving please.

JEEZ!!! WTF HAPPENED HERE??

Those who requested, I took you off the list. Impatient much?? I'm sending you a bunch of free cables to play with, shoot me for wasting your time.

And toobluvr, I want you to listen to my cables, so take the few more days that you need, but please get it moving, it's the respectful thing to do. People are getting understandably upset. It's a long wait, especially for someone near the bottom of the list.

Is it too late for me to get in the tour rotation?  Your claims are bold and your pricing makes it more compelling.  I'd love a test drive.

I've had the Speaker Cables and the Digital IC for a week now and my impressions follow those of BobM and the other posters. Very clean (non-grainy), transparent, and fast, with a large soundstage and excellent imaging. Slightly forward but not unpleasantly so. I would not describe them as light sounding in body (weight) but they are a bit harmonically lean (semantics, perhaps?).

For me their biggest weaknesses are this lack of harmonic richness, and a pronounced dryness in the upper midrange/treble that I hear with most other silver/silver hybrid cables. IME, connector material has as much effect on the tonal quality of cables as the wire material and the only cables containing silver that I've heard that do not have this pronounced dryness have had gold plated copper connectors (eg., Nordost Valhalla, KCI Pegasus). I thus suspect that so changing the connectors on the Nagys cables would have the salutary effect of mitigating the dryness and increasing the richness. At which point they would be very impressive indeed.

My system is here: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?action=systems;area=browse;system=1365

It is an all tube system and my speakers, which have Seas Millenium fabric tweeters, are time and phase aligned (with first order crossovers and stepped baffles).

I just got back from toobluvrs place and got the whole Nagy bundle tonight (much quicker than I thought they'd come to me!).

WTF is with all the drama surrounding these cables?  Nagy is very confident in his product, probably a bit too cocky but I've never seen people ask to be removed from a free audition list like that before...   Its like a game of "hot potato"

No kiddin'!  Right to the end of the list and I'll be darned if I can remember them ever being in my system.  OK, just foolin' around.  If the east coast ACers can pass 'em around and avoid shipping fees then that's the smart thing to do.  I'm actually hoping they take at least two more weeks to get to me so I can test 'em with my Goldmund Mimesis 9+ amp.

But please don't forget the forlorn west coaster!

Damn skippy!  Thanks, Paul.

mhconley - Just added you to the list.
launche - Just removed you from the list.
jtwrace - You're annoying. I don't like you anymore.

Gopher - I'm glad you have the cables. I'm looking forward to your thoughts. And toobluvr's as well :) Gopher, I'm guessing you got the cables next is because you live close to toobluvr, correct? After Gopher it will go back to the list and rpf is next.

If I'm not mistaken rpf has had a try and posted his findings just a few posts above, Norbert (#29).  According to the current list mclsound is next but not sure where he resides.  I do know rollo and goldlizsts are part of the NYC gang and they possibly could pass them without the hassle of shipping.  Just a thought.

I'm also very much looking forward to what JakeJ has to say, as I've used a Goldmund system when I made the cables. That was my reference system.

To clarify I am hoping it takes at least two weeks for the cables to get to me as the Goldmund amp is not in my possession yet.  Bought it on A'gon but had a problem that the seller and I tried to troubleshoot but ended up having to ship it back.  Natural Sound of Framingham, MA has fixed it and they are running it for 48 hours to make sure all is well before shipping it out (hopefully Monday 5/3).  Good customer service from Natural Sound.  Haven't mentioned it publicly as it was "dirty laundry" although I had chatted with Norbert about the problem.  Dat's da skinny on dat.

Sorry if I cut the line, guys.  I had no intention to do so and was quite shocked to be told I was next.  My understanding was that it was under Nagy's direction though...

"OK Fred....

Checked with Nagy, and looks like you are next on the local audition list.
Wanna come by and pick them up?  I'm not home Sat, maybe Sunday?

Let me know."

To which I responded:

"Hey buddy.  Wow, I'm up already?  I asked to join the tour two days ago and was dead last on the list...  Works for me. "

In any event the cables are in place and playing at very low volume until the wife wakes up.
