The sound is why I bought mine.
I replaced a Yamaha Integrated amp that was giving up the ghost. A friend loaned me a THx rated 4B. He used the Thx rated 4B to drive a center channel speaker, in mono mode. He also had a Proceed amp driving his rear surround speakers and Goldmund Monoblocks driving his big Thiels.
I borrowed a Parasound PH850 pre-amp and a big Parasound 2-channel amp ( I don't remember the model number but it was supposed to be comparable to the Bryston in output) from the local dealer and had the Bryston for the weekend.
I replaced my Integrated amp with the Parasound/Parasound combo and then with the Parasound/Bryston. I intended to listen to both sets all weekend. After a couple of hours with the all Parasound lineup, I replaced the Parasound amp with 4B Thx. I was floored at how good the Bryston sounded.
The Parasound amp sounded very similar to the Yamaha Integrated Amp that was dead.
The Bryston brought clarity, detail, control, sound stage width and depth. I never knew audio could sound that good. So, about a month later, I bought a 4B-ST from a dealer in Franklin, Tennessee.
The 20 year warranty was an added bonus.
Having my Yamaha amp killing my KEF tweeters when it decided it would flake, wasn't appreciated.
