Thank you for the reviews, Volks and Laundrew. If the JBLs are now $19000, that is way beyond what I can do. That price is much too much for me. My understanding is that they were $11000 US. I'm going to have to try very hard to get b-stock, demo, or worst case scenario, used. The JBL rep for my area said that b-stock and demo are possibilities.

We'll see what happens.

Hello Vegasdave,

Please remember that this was only one review and that you can always do better than the asking price of any audio component. Can you check into the price down where you are and let us know what it is?

Thanks :thumb:

Laundrew, this review says $5500 each...but it's almost a year old...so the price may have jumped significantly!

Laundrew ....oh my your so very, very humble when it comes to the JBL 1400 Arrays*Cough* B******T lol:)........for me all i can say is thank god there are other brands of speakers out there, cause no matter what i read or hear about the JBL 1400 Arrays ......to me they are very overpriced for the quality of sound they deliver and like i said.......they are very bright and to fatiguing for my tastes..........and thats my Humble opinion:)

Hi James........Currently have the Kef XQ 40's and by the end of this year will be making a leap to the KEF Reference 207/2 Current Model.

Hello VOLKS,

Sarcasm - how quaint. Although I may acquiesce to some of your most "colourful observations,” permit a reply “sans-sarcasm.”

As for audio equipment, we definitely have our own “tastes” when it comes to the music that we all have a passion for and how it is reproduced - this is the main reason why we are members of forums such as AudioCircle. I may not agree with fellow Bryston members at times on some subjects, but I still deeply respect and look forward to their opinions. I believe you learn so much more with an open and unbiased mind.

I currently use KEF speakers (Q7, Q9c, Q1) in my home theatre system. They are no where near the performance level of your current KEFs, but I do enjoy the sound that they produce when I am watching a movie.

The only issues that I have experienced from this system are a “blown” Q9c, crossover/driver replacements for both of my Q1s and most of the plastic pegs for the Q7 speaker grilles have went brittle over time and broken off. As these are entry level speakers, they were made in China, and perhaps quality control was an issue in these circumstances - who knows. My Bose speaker system (yes, I did own Bose at one time ) before the KEF upgrade did not sound as good but were much more reliable than my current KEFs. I do not abuse any of my audio equipment, I just use them a great deal. Most likely your Kef XQ 40's were not manufactured in China.

It is for the above noted reasons that I did not consider KEF speakers for my two channel system. I respect your opinion that you believe that JBLs are overpriced, please also respect my opinion they are speakers I would not want to spend “large” on also.

I sincerely wish that your future KEF 207/2 speakers brings you every bit of listening pleasure as what my Project Arrays bring to me on a daily basis. I wish you all the best on your upcoming speaker purchase.

I am very much looking forward to hear your opinion of your new KEF Reference 207/2 speakers at the end of the year - I must mark this down in my calendar.

I had a look at the KEF Reference 207/2 speakers, very nice looking speakers and I would think that they sound awesome. Now, if the spherical object on the top of the speaker cabinet was rectangular instead - wow!

How about a JBL Project Array family portrait for posterity and to help you sleep better at night...

I know that deep down VOLKS, you really like the JBL Project Array aesthetics  Do not worry, it will be our little secret -I promise :D

And that review is from '06! The review I posted is much more current. So, anyway, I'll have to ask the rep. I hate to bug him, but we're gonna have to get to the bottom of this.

Andy,

Which are the 1400's in the picture above? What is the big one on the right if it's not the 1400?

Hello vagasdave,

New list is around $16,000 CDN for the 1400s - I guess this is the time of year when a lot of prices are going to be increasing again :(

I got an email back from the JBL rep. He told me $5750 each for the 1400s. So, they're a lot cheaper here than in Canada! Quite a difference in price there.

I have an authorized dealer in my area who quoted me $8,625.00 US a pair new for the Array 1400's.  He doesn't carry them for demo so he called it a cash and carry price.  Before we launch into the "demo them at one dealer and buy them dirt cheap from someone else" argument this dealer did not suggest I do that.  He's a respected dealer around here who recognizes when he is adding no value to the sale and prices accordingly.

Hi VOLKS,

Those KEF's look interesting because the Tannoy's I have at home have that same coaxial approach and I have to say they throw quite a sound stage. How much are the 207.2's in Canada?
