Hi James........Currently have the Kef XQ 40's and by the end of this year will be making a leap to the KEF Reference 207/2 Current Model.
Hello VOLKS,
Sarcasm - how quaint. Although I may acquiesce to some of your most "colourful observations,” permit a reply “sans-sarcasm.”
As for audio equipment, we definitely have our own “tastes” when it comes to the music that we all have a passion for and how it is reproduced - this is the main reason why we are members of forums such as AudioCircle. I may not agree with fellow Bryston members at times on some subjects, but I still deeply respect and look forward to their opinions. I believe you learn so much more with an open and unbiased mind.
I currently use KEF speakers (Q7, Q9c, Q1) in my home theatre system. They are no where near the performance level of your current KEFs, but I do enjoy the sound that they produce when I am watching a movie.
The only issues that I have experienced from this system are a “blown” Q9c, crossover/driver replacements for both of my Q1s and most of the plastic pegs for the Q7 speaker grilles have went brittle over time and broken off. As these are entry level speakers, they were made in China, and perhaps quality control was an issue in these circumstances - who knows. My Bose speaker system (yes, I did own Bose at one time

) before the KEF upgrade did not sound as good but were much more reliable than my current KEFs. I do not abuse any of my audio equipment, I just use them a great deal. Most likely your Kef XQ 40's were not manufactured in China.
It is for the above noted reasons that I did not consider KEF speakers for my two channel system. I respect your opinion that you believe that JBLs are overpriced, please also respect my opinion they are speakers I would not want to spend “large” on also.
I sincerely wish that your future KEF 207/2 speakers brings you every bit of listening pleasure as what my Project Arrays bring to me on a daily basis. I wish you all the best on your upcoming speaker purchase.
I am very much looking forward to hear your opinion of your new KEF Reference 207/2 speakers at the end of the year - I must mark this down in my calendar.
I had a look at the KEF Reference 207/2 speakers, very nice looking speakers and I would think that they sound awesome. Now, if the spherical object on the top of the speaker cabinet was rectangular instead - wow!

How about a JBL Project Array family portrait for posterity and to help you sleep better at night...

I know that deep down VOLKS, you really like the JBL Project Array aesthetics

Do not worry, it will be our little secret -I promise

Be well...
