I like the dead silence and absolute neutrality.  Assembling a system is so rife with variables that these attributes greatly simplify the diagnosis of sound that is too bright/dark, bass shy etc.  Right off the top you can eliminate the amp and preamp and go straight to the source, cables, recording and/or speakers.  Oh, and did I mention the beauty of the 19" silver faceplates with handles, then there's the 20 year warranty.  I almost forgot, James Tanner and the good people at Bryston who make no effort to hide behind their dealer network.

Bryston equipment is similar to a  high end Japanese car (Lexus etc) . You can blindly pick any piece of  Bryston equipment and  it will be an exellent and reliable product. Depending on the product and vintage, it may, or may not be the "best in the world" but that does not matter because Bryston has done an great job of positioning their products in the "law of deminishing returns" sweet spot.

Good point. When you get a Bryston amp and preamp, you don't really have to worry too much about upgrading. Unless you want to get a bigger amp in the Bryston line. And allows you to get better speakers and keep the Bryston.

In the sea of insanity that has engulfed high-end audio, Bryston stands as a beacon of INTEGRITY, VALUE, and COMMON SENSE!!

Another well said from me.

On a professional level I have to admire Bryston's design philosophy and implementation focused on sound quality, build quality, funtionality and simple good looks.  The bells and whistles that I would never use are not there to clutter the unit or the sound.

Surprises - plain and simple.

Just when you believe it can not sound any better or you think you have heard it all, a tune you have not listened to in a while makes you sit up and take notice. This happened to me earlier today when I had Nine Inch Nail’s "Dead Souls" on the rack.

There is definitely something to be said about 1 Kilowatt amplifiers exercising iron fist control over an awesome pair of speakers - a most perfect, symbiotic relationship.

Ahhh... pure audio nirvana (gently wipes solitary tear from eye).

Be well…

I had the Bryston fired up last night, listening to:

Alan Parsons Project - Tales of Mystery and Imagination

Oscar Peterson - Plays Duke Ellington (compilation CD of a bunch of Pablo label recordings)

Pink Floyd - Division Bell

The detail that the Bryston provides always astounds me.  On the O.P disk, you can hear the action of the keys or the striker on the strings.  I couldn't decide which one.  One can also hear Oscar working the damper pedal.

The Bryston does everything really well, but piano's are reproduced exceptionally well.

Hi HsvHeelFan,

I couldn't agree with you more.  Listening to Beethoven's Cello Sonata #1 the other day I could hear the cellist breathing.  And the piano, if there is one instrument that sounds hyper real throught 7's and BP26 it is this.  Listening to the slow 2nd movements of some of my favorite of Mozart's Piano Concertos (19,20,21,23,24,27) I am hypnotized by the pure, clean and tonally accurate reproduction of each note played on those "88's".

Reputation for being some of the most rock-solid audio gear out there.
 Very liberal warranty policy.
What some other companies charge for repairs borders on robbery!
People who are Bryston owners tend to be loyal for many years... :eyebrows:

How's the sound quality?  I'm a big fan of some of their stuff, but the recording quality is pretty bad.
