I think I am actually looking for more of verbal descriptions of what people have in mind rather than actual ...

Okay then.  Well, my logo would have this litte RA in the middle, right?  And then under that it says Response Audio.  Then like around the RA there's these little circular lines and stuff.  Another one would say Response Audio, 'cept it would look different than the first one, and this time audio would be underneath response.  This one will be a different color, perhaps PMS 102 or thereabouts.  Wait, there's more.  A third variety would have this circle right, and inside the circle it says Response Audio and there's this big knife going through the circle and the bottom has some little drips of stylized blood.  The blood is PMS 185 without a doubt.  I am not so sure I like this one though.  Then there's this one that says Response Audio but in a typeface totally different from those first ones.  The R and the A are a bit larger than the rest, almost like small caps, but not exactly.  But here's the cool part - this is sitting on top of this wicked ass representational waveform of all your products' measured frequency responses.  This has got like an electric glow around it, and sparks.  Then to the right of that there's this graphical female figure pumping her fist in the air with a little thought bubble saying "I accept this!"  Dude, that is just the beginning, I've got so much more.

OK Nathan time to take your medicine :-)

Now there's this big Ram, and he has a grotesquely big nutsack....and you can say that while other dealers want to smack you with their horns, we just want you to fondle our balls....uh no that's not quite it...uh while other dealers want to Ram it to you, we want you to Ram it to us....No No NO       :P  that's not it...Oh let's just forget this Ram thing..

Of course nobody would forget THAT logo

Marbles, you're talking about slogans, not logos.  We need a logo here.  Geez man, get it straight!  :P

And I'm not totally kidding here, I'm working on mockups right now actually.  (No bloody knives)

Ya know, I always thought a simple design was the way to go also. It's funny because the image below was something I had on my computer several months ago but never did anything with it. (I hadto actually redo it today to be able to put it into a format compatible with my website to be able to post it here) Maybe I can work with this?

Thinking this over, the big-balled Ram picture may work out nicely with our RAM Signature products. Hell, the RAM amplifiers have a lot of balls!!

EDIT...this post was in response to the RA logo above..the RAM thing is quite cool.

Maybe it's the beer talking, but that RA logo is easily forgetable.  Now if you put a butcher knife in the picture and had some blood dripping from the letters, who could forget that????

We slaughter the competition!!!

Bill,

I completely understand.  Ascend Acoustics is actually doing something similar at the moment, but it was because the masses demanded it (actually it's because there was a forum thread where the majority agreed their current logo needed updating).  Dave F from Ascend thought the whole thing was funny so he offered up a pair of speakers for a new logo.

I'm playing with a few ideas for them at the moment, so maybe I'll fire off a couple for you as well.  I think I'll have a little bit of time before things start to pick up again around here.

I have to agree on the site revamp, there's some good room for improvement.

Absolutely. The problem is that I am a one man operation doing all the modifying, building, phones, paperwork, orders, taxes, snow shoveling, getting kids off to school, being home when they get off the bus, yada, yada, yada. Just trying to keep my site updated on a daily or weekly basis is tough enough.

I have spent some time learning much more about my web program and will most definetly revamp the site after the new year, probably after tax season. Maybe this is more inportant than the logo......but I would want a new logo (if I am going to use one) when I revamp.

Obviousy, I will get opinions on the new look from everyone here at the circle. Yu could not ask for more honest people. Circle people have a way of nicely telling you something sucks. I appreciate this and take no offense. If I don't like the way things are turning out, it may be time to hire someone who knows what they're doing. Till then, it will have to do as is.

What if the overall shape was that of a triangle similar in proportions to that of the "A"?

I happen to also like the Russ Andrews' logo--

Hey Bill, don't take my comment too seriously.

I have a low opinion of most logo designs.  There are too many around, they can't all be remembered.  So why bother if it's not obvious/fitting to the company?

And I've seen oranizations spend $750,000.00 for really stupid logos (snow flakes, three different height "wooden peg people").  The Board approves, everything is changed over, and six months later it's changed again, and then again!  These changes cost millions in advertising, letterhead, business cards, website redesign, etc. and no telling the business lost due to customer confusion.

Other stupid logos include the current Toyota or Mazda ornaments.  What do those mean?  How many can tell which one belongs to which car?

Many companies that had stupid logos are abandoning them as worse than useless.

If you go with a name, logo, or slogan you damn well better make it a good one and stick with it.

The logo above has worked for some time now. Maybe it's better to leave well enough alone.
I have also played around with my site the last hour or so to make it a bit easier on the eyes and less confusing. Thoughts??

Much better on that logo, I like it.

On the website, I think it's much better, and can't tell you how to improve it more, but I'm sure others will.

Visually, I like Nathan's C logo, but then I thought "That's not really good frequency response". Of course, flat frequency response isn't very attractive visually.

Ya know, nathanm's avatar would work at times. I'm sure we have all been in that mood from time to time.

Nice going. Knowing how to work a computer helps? I have saved your ideas and will post them on my site along with a few others. I do like "C".
 Thanks nathanm.

I also like C from Nathan's recommendation.  Very Cool FID(Freq. Induction Decay).  Although it is not "Gaussian", It looks great.

But you have to be careful if you will enhance this logo a bit.  Varian NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) Instruments Division, Palo Alto CA. have quite a similar logo (Varianinc.com).  To avoid hassle later for trade mark purposes, please check if they are close or similar.  I know because I work there as an Engineer.

Otherwise, it's great and can be remembered easily.  Can you say "Kodak"?

happy new year,

Abe
