Trying to figure out a good way to build stands.  I am not sure I want to afford the steel stands anytime soon (not sure of the cost, but can guess it is pricey).  I'm thinking of an 80/20 solution given that my rack is also made of same.

Anyone have good ideas?

I made some TNT Stubby stands in flat black. Seem to work fine -- neither of my nephews have managed yet to push them over.

I am referring to horn stands, much like Romy does here:

My idea is a little closer to someone else's I saw on Romy's site, but using 80/20 extrusions instead of steel.

My bad; I was thinking of stands for the surround speakers you mentioned elsewhere.

No problemo....I always juggle projects...I can't think of only one thing at a time

The big LeCleach horns are nice and all, but those OS waveguides are awesome! They're going to make for a really nice setup. I don't generally envy other people's gear, but for those I'll make an exception.

Well my wife and I are another story....lets just leave it at that.   :duh:

Thanks, Nullspace.  Its going to be a while before I have everything set up but once I do if you are ever in this area you can stop by.

The waveguides were my attempt to marry the OS profile with a LeCleach mouth rollback.  It doesn't end up being much different than a large roundover however.

All the horns came out well.  Now, I got to build stands to mount everything and then start measuring.  I have been quite busy the last couple of months and hadn't much free time to play with toys.  I intend to use some of the winter weekends to start working on that project.

As you can see in the one photo, my Abbey clones' boxes are done sans finish.  I am going to wire them up and prototype the XO soon.  Those speakers will be my HT speaks.  Some of the other projects in the background are the surround speakers which will be Econowave Delite 10Es (18sound XT1086 + DE250 + Kappa 10").   I got a number of subs in the works too.

Oh, and there are the EV 940 horns.  These are CD horns meant from 500hz up to 5khz iirc.  The drivers are Community M200As.  These are the same drivers that Avantgarde uses in their Duo and other speakers.  They are meant to be used from 400hz - 4khz.   They don't have an intended project yet but I plan to play with them.

Abbey Clones...

The woofer has its own volume.  I intend to add a hinge to the door so the xo can be accessed.

Its been a while since I've updated this thread.  Mainly its been due to my social life that hasn't left any time for working on projects, not that I am complaining.

However, I put myself down to order 4 of the Anarchy tapped horn flat packs.   I already own 4 of the tang-band 6.5" drivers that can be used in this design.  That should speed things up a bit. I still need to make stands to hold the horns, that is the key ingredient that has been holding things back as I already drilled the driver mounts for the horns.

4 of these smallish THs should work nicely for distributed bass, ala Geddes.  They are SPL monsters by any stretch, but 4 can produce plenty of output, especially in my smallish dwelling.  They have a lower corner of 25hz, so extention is plenty for music.

I'm in for two of these too. :D

My abbey clones are waiting to be finished, stuffed and measured for XO modification (I have the abbey xo, but I am using a different woofer, so adjustments need to be made).
