Products YOU would like to see reviewed! (2009)
« on: 13 Feb 2009, 03:26 pm »
Readers,
The review I released this month came directly from reader input, while I was aware of SVS I doubt I would have gone to them for a review without a reader’s suggestion.  I really think as a magazine we do much better when we review the products that people who already read the magazine are interested in reading about.  So please tell us what you want.

Reviewers,
If you would like to use this as an opportunity to “let the cat out of the bag” so to speak on your upcoming projects, or even to tell the world what you would really like to review but cant seem to get your hands on, this is an excellent opportunity!

The credit for this idea of course goes to Zero, who started the first one of these last year.

Thanks all,
Jeff Brown

Have you ever thought of doing an all DIY system or something like that? I am sure there are plenty of us who would send our designs for something like that. Or even a review of a kit build.

How about a Sonos/Duet comparison review?  Could be Cullen modded Sonos and a Bolder modded Duet.

Since I think DIY is pretty cool, even though I have 10 thumbs and I am a huge fan of diskless audio I'm really digging both of these ideas!

Keep it up!

I already mentioned the Paul Hynes PS/diy shunt voltage regulators so,, continuing along those same lines(computer audio) with proudcts that I now have inhand, i would recommend Steve Nugent's Empirical Off-Ramp 3 USB reclocker transport and Lee Weiland's Locus Design Axis & the carbon based Nucleus USB cables. These products while not what I would call "affordable" are w/o a doubt at the top of what's available in computer audio today in my humble opinion. :D

Cheers,
Robin

Sometime in 2009 I'd love to read your opinion of SP Tech speakers, either the Timepiece 3.0's or the Revelations.  Bob's production schedule is starting to catch up, so maybe he could produce a demo or two.  (Note:  I am a big SP Tech fanboy and owner of five of his transducers.  I love 'em).

...My two EXACT suggestions. I was going to post both of these, then I read through the other suggestions!

DIY & Orions.

For DIY, how about an AC Manufacture, Aspen Amplifiers.

Lenehan Audio ML1s - they come from far away (Australia), but bring the music home.

*Vandersteens 7s
*Modified vintage TT like Lenco, Gerard or one of better Techs direct drives.
*Some shoot-outs are always interesting
*Battery powered phono shoot-out (RWA, Musical Surroundings Nova Phonomena, Sutherland Ph3D Phono Preamp, Korora Phono Stage, Dodd Audio and last but not least The Altmann phono stage)
*Cheapest SET amplifier finds and DIY kits and how they stock up to more expensive offerings.
*DIY cables v.s over-hyped megabucks snake oil.
*room treatment and the best choices out there
*some horns would be nice or SD speakers like new Omegas  ...............
