Cheap powered monitor shootout.

AudioEngine A5 vs. KRK Rokits vs. Mackie MR5.

Would be very interesting to see how the two biamplified pro monitors stand up to the AudioEngine.

This applies to all audio rags & Ezines - fewer, to no cable, IC, & PC reviews. The welcome mat ran out over a dozen yrs. ago. :duh:

Hi everyone.  New here.

After ugraded my A/V system, I did some research looking for the “best” affordable  A/V power protection I could get, learning about some UPS Batery Backup products been using for A/V application like Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD, CyberPower's CP1350AVRLCD, Powercom BNT-1500AP, Monoprice etc.

They include some features like voltge regulations, surge suppression, and UPS backup for power failures. I ended chosing Tripp Lite SMART1500LCD ($157.00 at Sam's store).

Some days after pluged in all my A/V system, there was a blackout but all my system continued turned on and working perfectly withow problem until I decided to to turned it off.

So, I would like to see some reviews of these products (or any other affordable you also could know).  If possible, it would be great to be compared with other products with similar features but pricier like Panamax, PS Audio Monster, APC, Audio Quest etc.

Let's add the new AVA Vision DAC to the list of other exciting DACs I'd love to see reviewed. The others seem to be forthcoming shortly. My list of DACs of interest:

Eastern Electric DAC
Wyred4Sound DAC
AVA Vision DAC
Virtue Audio DAC
Peachtree Audio's standalone DAC

And I may be forgetting/overlooking some other exciting forthcoming DACs.

Hi Jeff Brown,

I'd like to see the Eastern Electric DAC get reviewed also so if I could possibly set up the DAC to go into one of your reviewers hands possibly by March please contact me.

 Thanks,

I would greatly prefer comparisons over single product reviews.  Not shootouts where you have to name a winner, but analyses that highlight strengths and weaknesses relative to rest of system.  I realize that you cannot make it reviewing audio gear if you start being negative in reviews, but anything that can be done to draw out points of difference would be outstanding.

To date all we read about are reviews of individual components. Hoping they somehow synergize with what we own.
Thinking out of the box comparing a brand to another. meaning an all say CJ system against a all Bryston system. Using the same speakers and cabling.
Instead of finding that one piece why not consider an entire system. There can be no claims about incompatibility synergy etc. Mano a mano.
Really, what are we chasing in sound that a so called house sound will not deliver. Individually one piece can be better [ if I can use that word] but as a whole maybe cannot be beat.
I remember the day when RCA, Ge, philco and the like sold as systems with brick and mortar stores to show their wares. Interesting. Just another way of looking at things.

How about the "MiniWatt" and/or the "Little Singer Hybrid"  A couple of super affordable Amps.

Might make a fun dorm room setup.

I'd like to see a review of the Blue Circle Penny vs a comparable speaker from the Ohm Walsh x000 series.

What about one or more of Bruce Rozenblit's (Transcendent Sound) OTL amps?  No affiliation, but I very much enjoyed the T-16 of his I built and his pitch seems aimed at comparative affordability.  Cordially,
