Oh... as further evidence to the "deal" you got on these puppies, check here: http://show.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fdm.pl?0&1&adlr&Sp_pres&homeSee... I told you things at SP Tech would be changing. This is just the beginning.
Friends,The Minis are coming along a little better now - should be shipping the first pairs by the end of next week. As I said before...they'll be a few of the cherry ones first - sorry about that. Also, as a little "consolation"... I'm wiring them with my new wire design too. That wasn't part of the original $1,349.00/pair price, but I figured I had to do something to make it up to you a little. I know it's not much, but that's about the best I can do. Besides, it's "more" than you might think. The engineer in me still can't get over how much difference a damn little piece of wire can make. - even if it is my design. (I think) I understand the theory (my own), but it's still hard to imagine that it can have that much of an audible effect. From an engineering standpoint, I'm not sure I "like" who I am "becoming." Hi Bob,You are missing the most important piece of information from the information on audiogon and that is the cross over point. Most of these people are very experienced audio people and understand how much value a low crossover point can add to the experience along with the waveguide. You should definitely be advertising it prominently.Just my 2c worthcheersAlan
Did i just miss out, in a massive way?
Let me tell you, I heard the Timepiece 2.0 this weekend, my first SP Tech experience ( They are 3 generations old) and well you missed out on a bargain of the century!! But you can still get them, just pay a bit more. They are worth it.Mike
On another positive note, it appears Bob added the crossover point to the Audiogon ad.
Most of us know what a lower cross over can do especially for voices. I think that the promotion he has done with the Mini will pay dividends long term, it takes time but all the people who got the deal I am sure will be prolific in voicing what they think of them.
Another thing he should try is another version of the mini aimed at the lower end of the market as a way of getting people introduced to Sp Tech. Once people are happy with the cheaper version and know the gains that can be made from the more expensive lines they tend to trust the manufacturer and just buy them and of course the higher end versions have more margin in them. They need to be cheap to make and give a good idea of what they can expect in the fully blown versions.
When I get mine I will put a dollar value on what I think they are worth compared to other gear I have owned like the Meridian 5500's they were very nice but were clinical and not as involving as they should have been.
My mini's will hopefully tide me over till I get back on my feet financially after which it will be revelation time or maybe the grand if the room is large enough.
I hope Bob goes on to make a very good living from Sp Tech, not much more you can ask from life but to do something you really enjoy and gives other people so much pleasure.
From here on consider me as one more SP Tech ambassador.
