To be sure ... after those several of us posting here having seemingly grabbed them all up!  :D

Actually, there is some really great, albeit much lesser know music still there.  It is nearly to that point of, "come on, just take a chance now why don't ya?'" pricing ... but it takes a lot of digging ... especially in those spots where they are not normally.

Funny story, as having read about some doing it here, as even the employees tried to stash cds and dvds for later in the sale.  The liquidator, as one would anticipate, would not have any part of that and as it was discovered, the squirreled away merchandise was returned to the sales floor.

They were not in the racks....but on a rolling cart by the checkout...a lucky find.
Most of the excellent stuff is gone....its now 2nd. string and 3rd. string music.....time to  take names and play samples to hear what they sound like..... 8)

The Six Degrees site has good samples.....so I knew what I wanted, and found it. 8)
Tonight 20 cds for $100.00....nice !!!

Nice research, sleuthing and great scores Chris ... I hope you enjoy!

I am off in one-half hour to Lincoln Center, as I never made it yesterday ... I had four very large boxes delivered from Indiana (hint, hint) and am now in proud possession of two Darth Vader-like sonic creatures in our living area.

First impressions - all I can say is WOW!

Now off to find a few more treasures ...

Yup that cart by the info desk is the place to go. I got Midnight Star's "No Parking On The Dance Floor" which contains Freakazoid and 2 Billy Idol cds and a Goth compilation off of that cart. Lincoln Center's Tower is the place to go.

Just back from 2+ hours at the Lincoln Center store.  Yes, pickings are becoming quite a bit slimmer by the day.   That did not stop me from picking up almost 40 titles, nearly all of which were European and Swedish jazz.  A couple surprise finds including Ornette's new cd and a couple early Tim Berne Soul Note titles.

The best surprise was running into Joe Lovano and his wife Judi Silvano shopping the jazz remains ... we had not seen each other since the days when I programmed music in Chicago.  It was bittersweet, as was nice catching up, but also sad about many factors relative the business.

Oh, yeah ... it felt like limestone, but it was more akin to a revelation (or two) aa

Three days left...was at Tower this evening, and the pickings are quite slim @80% off. The World and classical section are practically gone, the jazz selection sucks...saw quite a few University's bands, but I would say the jazz section is gone too. Lots of pop/rock, Latin...don't think I saw the rap, mhnnn they just dissap peared over the last week since I was there.
Picked up another bunch of obscure (to John Q Public) cds, found some more Material, Buckethead, Horney Horns, and other unknown known music forms.
Looking over my receipt a little while ago, I noticed at the very bottom there is a line indicating just how much I saved over retail...so added up all my saving from all the purchases(maybe 4 visits) and I am totally shocked at the total saved...a whooping $1,800+, holy cow...man, that's a mind blower.
The store is really looking ragged now...I remember how vibrant and alive that store (Lincoln Center store, NYC) when I worked in the area in the late 80's and frequently went in there for LP's in the bargain section. I just wonder if the industry hadn't kept the price of a cd so darn high, 18$, if things would not have turned out differently. I mean the sale was successful, lots of people were buying handfuls of cds when the price was just 25-40% off. Pricing was certainly a factor in my view.
Good speed to Tower, bye bye.

Yup at 40% of $18-26 for a CD.  People are possessed.

My wife told me I would have saved ton$ of money for just staying at home and not buy anything. aa

Hey!

I see.... I'm planning to stop by the downtown one on 4th Street tomorrow for the last time. It will be sad for sure since I used to go there often in my school year :(

Well, nothing last forever. Now I wonder what those two Tower stores will turn in to? Starbuck or Chase bank? :?

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:
