Back to The Woodstock Experience . . just realized part of it is on the Volunteers disc (still be there but had to leave it be a lil while ago, you know).  Vinyl Lady, right on.

Hi Jim,

I see your order arrived 8). My only complaint with the CD was that they started the live show on the Volunteers disc. I guess there was too much live material for one CD. I saw them once before and once right after Woodstock and The Woodstock Experience is a great representation of the Airplane in the late 60's. I agree with you that the the closer--The House at Pooneil Corners-- is a killer :guitar: :drums: :banana piano:

Palladium HD had Tom Petty on last night...good to see/hear he is still going strong as ever.

Was that the show from Gainesville? If so, I saw part of it the other night and it was awesome.

Yeap, I believe he was performing his new album in its entirety. They had two hour-long shows back to back.

Opps...its Palladia HD, my bad.

Eclectic mix of ambient indie rock, sludge metal and other elements.
Quote
My easy comparison is Neurosis but I don't find them to be as heavy as Neurosis. A lot of their ambience reminds me of some of the newer Deftones work or possibly some Team Sleep. Outside of the ambient noises there are elements of both sludge and doom metal as well as some peaceful indie rock. Though the mixture seems to be a bit much but the band is able to cohesively put together songs without sounding like a jumbled mess.

David Crosby - If I could Only Remember My Name

Gotta say I really enjoy this one. Funny thing is, this was exactly the type of stuff I was listening to when it was released. Had most of what the CSNY guys were putting out but missed this one.
This is a seminal album of west coast players from No and So Cal recorded at the end of the 60's.  Crosby got em together, wrote some tunes and they played.  This wasn't made for radio audiences.  Atlantic Records just let him improvise and flow.  I think of it as a testament to the best music comin from the west coast at the time.  If you listen carefully, you can pick out Slick and Mitchell (clearly on Laughing) in the choruses and Casady and Lesh just sound oh so good (ain't that right, Timmy?).  Guitars ring out pure from Garcia, Stills, Crosby, Kaukonen, Young and Kantner and I confess I can't tell who is playing what but it is so in tune with the feel of the music.  One track is pure vocal chorus.  There is nothing like this record.  That goes for the warm sound that was captured, too.  Every 60's music fan should own this and go out of their way to get the best mastered recording.

Neil Young-  Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere (Reprise).  I need the best possible re-release of this.  I've read it's on his Greatest Hits double album.  That right?

Jim,

have you heard the Classic records 200g release and do you know how that compares to the 180g relase that was pressed at Pallas? I have the original vinyl from 1971 and would like to get one of the newer releases, but not sure which one to get

thanks

Hi, Laura.  Toni Rambold should join this discussion.  I have the 180g from Classic Records re-mastered by Bernie Grundman (hope I'm spelling his name right).  I also have the original Atlantic.  The 180g is what I'm listening to.

You know that speaker positioning thing?  I swear my room is perceptively gone now.  Physically, my room is probably why!  Sounds like a contradiction, I know.  It's the synergy, I think, between room and placement that's freakin destroying the difference between my time and space and what I'm hearing from whenever and wherever!   What I'm hearing is making more sense to me more profoundly and it feels very right.
