Sound Roots- Andy McKee and NEXT (Mapleshade).  Don't know how Maestro Sprey pulls this off, but in my room, the horn players are freakin standing.

I agree totally.  This is the most "live in my living room" cd I own.  I love it when the sax player moves away from the mic and then back close to it in "Top Hat".  So real.  For any AC'er who likes acoustic jazz (the real kind), this is a must have disc!   :thumb:

What's not to like?...the gal plays a cello and sings. Plus she is a cutie.   aa
Love this album...playing it again.
Quote
...Lindsay Mac brings her own distinctive approach -- and at this point, playing a cello as a front person is automatically distinctive -- she straps on her cello like a guitar and as often as not, strums and plucks her instrument...Singer-songwriter cellist Lindsay Mac's new second album Stop Thinking is charming, engaging, sonically interesting and lyrically first-rate. One can't ask for much better in a singer-songwriter album, irrespective of the instrument played by the artist. The fact that Ms. Mac plays cello and uses it in a distinctive manner -- in many cases as a folkie would use a guitar -- makes the recording all the more intriguing.

For sound quality, we'll give this CD one of our increasingly infrequent "grade A" scores. Both Ms. Mac's vocal and her cello are nicely recorded, and the CD a decent dynamic range, something becoming increasingly rare. The recording was not compressed much, so there is a nice ebb and flow. I might quibble with the lo-fi approach taken on her version of Blackbird, but overall the CD does well by a good sound system.

Hey Robin,

Thanks for thinking of me. :)
Pretty interesting sound. BTW, how come when I clicked on the long track samples the title came up "Death to Digital."  aa

Happy Thanksgiving,

Jefferson Airplane- The Woodstock Experience.  If you love this band, you'll love this.  It's a whirlwind of this band!  Best part for me . . they did some songs from After Bathing at Baxter's and the closing number, one I hadn't heard before, caused me to refill my glass (and drink about half in one turn), select repeat and turn the volume up to stun!!  Then, I did it again.

(later)  Guess I should point out that this is not an audiophile recording by any stretch.  Nor is the band note perfect.  Bless It's Pointed Little Head is a better live album except this is crazier and freer.  And that's what makes it good!

SAMPLES
This the same dude that's on Herbie Hancock's DVD "Possibilities" (allow me to be a little rhetorical at this hour, won't you)?  Dude looks like he's on his way to an 80's disco.  Checked out some samples.  Like him much better when Herbie is around.  Back to The Woodstock Experience . . just realized part of it is on the Volunteers disc (still be there but had to leave it be a lil while ago, you know).  Vinyl Lady, right on.

Say what?  I used to work with a lot of young girls and it was hard (not literally), but I was good.  Anyways, one young lady was extolling the virtues of "Relax" to me and I couldn't help thinking I know 50x over more than this chump does about the subject (assuming he was talking about women).  But, I was quiet about it.  Just nodded.
