Everything I stated so far still stands. I'll post more after at least a week 24/7 steady burn-in, and a thorough comparison with my Dynaudio's. There are at least 2 AC members who plan on coming to listen, so they will have their own opinions to post.

Doug,

when you open them, please post back what was included in the shipment.
I am curious if Zu included a pair of speaker cables with the 8 pole B3 plug.

Doug,

You will have fun with that set up. I am currently running the Druid 2 with the Ibis speaker cables. The 8 pole plug definitely makes a difference. I originally did an A/B connection comparison with the WAX. The 8 pole was much smoother & basically did everything better than the standard spades. The 8 pole continues with the Ibis geometry right up to the voice coils, where the spade connection is jumped over, thus loosing the benefits of keeping the continuous geometry.

Please note that my avitar is a photo of the 8 pole plug in the back of my Druid 2's

ya ton, that's what these connections look like.  i may not do any listening until tomorrow - the speakers weren't packed in baggies, & the driver metal dustcaps were soaking wet, due to condensation.  they're still in the foam packing ends, driver-face down, to let 'em thaw out...  i'll see how they look in a few hours...

In the past Zu has used a packing type plastic wrap to protect the speaker. The person that sent them to you, probably did not think to wrap them up, as once you take the plastic off, it is trash. When I took my speakers out on a comparison tour, I wrapped them with saran-wrap. Any type of plastic wrap will do.

I suggest that when you or anyone else in the demo chain ships the speakers, to wrap them in plastic for the next guy. At least wrap around the driver.

ya, i plan on sticking 'em in plastic bags prior to re-packing.  four hours after unpacking, things were dry, but the metal woofer dustcap and the woofer's metal ring around its circumference were still noticably chillier than, for example, the metal woofer dustcap of my proacs.  so, i figured i'd be safer, & could wait another day - after all, i've been waiting a few months!   realize that these tings were sitting on the back of a fedex truck since last friday a.m., & it's been pretty chilly here lately...

Very smart decision...
It usually takes at least 24 hours for metal to get back to room temp.

yes!   :)   so far, wery nice - really dynamic.  but, having children, & being during the week, i really haven't had as much time as i'd like, to devote to them. having to get up at 5:15 a.m. also doesn't help!   :o   i need more time to play w/my x-over, where i sit, etc.  it seems i may have best results sitting a lot further away than i'm used to - likely due to the highly efficient nature of these.   more info later!

FYI

The way my room is set up, I sit @ 13' back with the Druids slightly toed in. How far back did you use to sit vs. how far back with the Druid Monitors?

hi ton,

i usually listen from ~8'-12', depending on where i put my chair. but, the initial impression is that zu's seem to do better at 15'-16' away.  i hope to spend some more quality time w/them this weekend!   :)   also, how tall are the monitors?  curious as to whether the stand i'm using is a good height.  and, at yer 13' distance, what's your speaker spacing?

thanks,

doug s.

My speakers are @ 9'-6" from the center of the cones. The Druids are @ 50" tall.
