Hi Markus,

Yes I would say the end of January before we have the Pro software.

James, earlier you noted about HDMI connectivity perhaps not far down the road.  I realize you don't control the timing but do you anticipate a large cost for just adding that feature if someone elects to have the 1.7 upgrade done now and then needs to send it back to Bryston for HDMI down the road?  Thanks

HI Phil,

I would not expect it to cost very much just to add the connector.

Bryston SP2 Digital Inputs
Dear James,
Does the Pro model of the SP2 have any optical inputs
It would seem to be more useful to sustain the variety of coax, toslink  optic (as per many SAT receivers) and AES/EBU for the Pro.

Well, has anyone gotten the new SP2 yet?
I guess are they shipping?

I just got an email from my dealer in Halifax saying that my SP-2 is waiting for me.  I'll be picking it up next weekend. I'd drive down to get it tomorrow, but I'm on call and can't leave the city.

Next week is going to be a hard week to get work done :)

Levi,

Nope, this is my first foray into the world of the SP.  I'll post some pictures when I finally get it.  It might be a while before I seriously get to test it in its new home, because the room that it's going in is still being built.  I'll be putting the drywall in that room this week :)

RS232 Protocol Updates with SP2
James,

Are the updates to the rs232 protocol for the SP2 significant enough to warrant a new RS232 Protocol document to be released?   I use the serial port extensively with my home automation setup and I'm intrigued to see what changes (and improvements!) have been made.

Thanks!

HI All,

Here is an email I received from one of our REP's from a USA dealer on the SP2:

Hi James,

Jim of XXXXXXXXXXX was very impressed with the improvements of the SP2 over the SP1.7.  Jim usually doesn’t wax poetically, but he really went on about how much of an improvement the new unit is over the old.  He would like to have his demo 1.7 updated to a 2.  Could you let me know what the process for this is and what the cost would be?

Cool, James ---  So is it really shipping in the USA yet?? I was told by a local dealer that I cold-called that it wasn't and may not be for awhile.  That seems strange but it was before I read this so I didn't question it.

Yes we have been shipping for about a week now.  We are very backordered at the moment so it will take a while to catch up.

I spent the evening playing with my new SP2 last night, after a drive back from Halifax.    Very sweet, indeed!  Serial number of "4".   Gotta love it!  When I get a chance to do some serious listening, I'll post my impressions.

I have to thank James for my incessant questions and "is it ready yet?" emails.  Totally awesome.   The PMC stuff is most incredible as well, James.  Gracias, amigo.

Cool, so what is the waiting time if someone (hmmm.....maybe me) were to put in a new order this week?

James,
Do you now have a fixed price for the upgrage from SP1.7 to SP2?

Will the units in the UK have to go back to Bryston?

Thanks

How much will the upgrade from SP1 to SP2 cost and what is the RRP of a new SP2.

HI,

The SP1 to SP2 upgrade will be about $300 more than the SP1.7 to SP2.
Upgrades will maintain the same faceplate cosmetics but all the 'innards' will be changed.
The SP2 prices will be going up about 5% in February.

Any idea when PMC in the UK will start to take machines for (shipping back) upgrade ? Can I annoy them yet with the golden question.. how much will it cost us...(hopefully the upgrade will not convert to pounds in the usual 1:1 ratio :( )

Cheers

Matt
