Hi,

Hopefully the last status report!

Jumped the gun on the “Hypex are in”, they were stuck in JFK custom till Friday, DHL said delivery will be on Monday.  So now is just waiting for the E100 Power Amp chassis to get on the plane, I will let everyone know ASAP.  Thank everyone for their patience, sometime international coordination projects are a bit hard to pull off quickly.

Hi,

The E100 Power Amp chassis is getting on the plane tomorrow via UPS Air Express, so get your paypal ready.

For the buyers that did not buy the E100 chassis, I am shipping your packages later today.

Sorry for the delay in this project.  Here is where we stand:  There are issues with the chassis from Taiwan, there were some mix-up at the factory, and they are not ready yet.  However, I am getting seven E100 power amp chassis (all black ones) this week, but without the proper holes punched for UcD400 kit.

I know some are anxious to get the kit; here is what I can do:

1.  Take a new E100 power amp chassis, tap holes for UcD400, PS, and Transformer, install.  Please note these will go in the order of the buy_id.
2.  Take an E130 Power amp chassis (Black or Silver), tap holes and install (take $20 off the group buy).
3.  Take an E100 preamp chassis (Black or Silver), tap holes, and install (take $20 off the group buy).  I’ll send the power camp accessories.
4.  Wait for the "UcD400" E100 chassis to arrive (might take another 2-3 weeks).
5.  Take the UcD 400 modules, Wires, HG Power Supply, Transformer only for $590.
6.  Refund of the deposit.

Again, sorry for delay, will do better next time.

Ken,

I will take the option 2 in black and take $20 discount.  Should I send you the balance today?

Thanks for the update.

I've got a few questions about the options provided.

Do the substitute chassis' also included an upgraded faceplate?

Are the connector holes pre-punched (eg: does the E100 preamp have a lot of holes punched for the RCAs/XLRs)?

To be honest I'm still finishing my dedicated room so I'll probably just wait, but it never hurts to evaluate all of the options.  Although the E130 does sound interesting since it looks like the UCD supports balanced connections.

Hi,

Do the substitute chassis' also included an upgraded faceplate? -- No, the E130 and E100 Preamp chassis does not have the 10MM face plate.

Are the connector holes pre-punched (eg: does the E100 preamp have a lot of holes punched for the RCAs/XLRs)? -- Yes, the E100 Preamp chassis has 10 RCA holes and 6 XLR holes.  You can see the back panel of this chassis from my website.

Ken,

You stated that E130 is a power amp chasis.  It wouldn't have the extra holes like E100 preamp chasis, right.  I am thinking the discount is for lack of upgraded  face plate.  It's also bigger.  Is there anything else I should be aware of before I send off the money.  I am not in a hurry so I can wait if you would rather fill other orders first.

Hi woodsyi,

The E130 is in Power amp configuration.  The 10MM face plate will NOT be included, however, it will have the regular 4mm face plate.  Other difference: you need to tap holes for the UCD modules, and PS.  There is a hole for the transformer already.  And yes, 130MM high, instead of 100MM high chassis, the footprint is the same.

Ken,

Since I will be traveling and have another DIY project ahead of this, I will just wait for the 10mm faceplate with the holes predrilled.  I would rather have everything spelled out for assembly rather than having to drill holes, etc.  Yike, that would be like real DIY!   I will go ahead and pay the balance today.  Just send me the stuff when everything as originally advertized is in place with a step by step instruction.

Thanks

Hi woodsyi,

Received you payment.  Will send out as soon as I get the chassis in the correct form.

Hi Ken,
Since I will be moving the parts around inside the chassis to allow room for a dipole equalizer board, I do not need the mounting holes pre drilled.  Your option #1 in black would be my choice.  Does that have the 10mm face plate? If not I will wait for the original chassis.
I have noticed that an additional +16v 0 -16v secondary winding is needed on the transformer for the auxilary power feature on the HG power supply.  Does the transformer you are supplying have this?

Ken,

I'll wait for the corrected chasis; I'm in no hurry.  Thank you.

Hi Mike,

The E130 does not have the 10mm front plate; it has the regular 4mm front plate.

The transformer I am sending does not have an extra winding, but I think there is enough room to fit a small Tx in the chassis.

UcD400 kit availability
Ken,

In July you mentioned:

"... I am going to stock the UcD400AD modules, the HG Power supply and associated parts for sale on my site. I am going to the price the kit at $699 to reflect the cost of keeping items in stock. The good side is, the kit will be ready for immediate delivery."

Do you know when the $699 kit with the drilled chassis will be available?

My supplier has gone belly-up on me, he will not deliver the chassis that we agree upon. Sorry to have drag this along for so long and not be able to deliver as I promised.

This is what I can do:

1. Take a new E100 power amp chassis coming in this week, tap holes for UcD400, PS, and Transformer, and install. Please note these will go in the order of the buy_id. -- There 5 of these chassis, the chassis are steel, not aluminum. All the chassis are Black, but I have 3 Silver and 2 black front plates, please let me know hat color front plate if you wish to choose this option.

2. Take an E130 Power amp chassis (Black or Silver), tap holes and install (take $30 off the group buy). I will send the power amp accessories.

3. Take an E100 preamp chassis (Black or Silver), tap holes, and install (take $30 off the group buy). I will send the power amp accessories.

4. Wait for the "UcD400" E100 chassis to arrive (might take another 2-3 weeks). -- NOT AVALIBLE ANYMORE.

5. Take the UcD 400 modules, Wires, HG Power Supply, and Transformer for $580.

6. Refund of the paid amount.

A couple of the group buy buyers have asked for refunds, that means I have a couple of extra sets of parts. Please let me know if anyone else want to buy them at this discount prices.

regarding Option 1: New E100 power amp chassis
are you drilling and tapping the holes or will I have to.
( I am asking because I didnt see a discount for this option like the others, but this is a steel case, not alum. so that could be the reason, but just wanted to make sure )

Also, will the extra height for the E130 make assembling any easier ( less cramped that the E100? )

thanks[/quote]
