Hi,

Want to let everyone know how the project is progressing and how to join this group buy.

I'll do a group announcement on 6/30 and ask for 1/3 of the payment via Paypal (please add 3%) or MO.  Please email me with payment confirmation when I do the announcement, and your are in the group buy.

Of course, you don't have to wait to 6/30 to send me the 1/3 of the payment ($650 *1/3 = $214 or $221 by Paypal); my id is ken_shih@DigitalAnalogueDIY.com

I am aiming for delivery out of NY 7/9, and I’ll start mailing them out as soon as I received the other 2/3 of the payment plus shipping fee.  Please note the shipping fee is a flat $18 to west cost, and $15 to the east cost.  If you live anywhere in between, pick the closest coast.  If you are ordering outside of US, please email me and we can make shipping arrangements.

I have 10 kits in order now, so I am pretty sure we can get this project off the ground.

Hi Jon,

I have the chassis in both black and silver, the colors are just like the other chassis I am selling.

Hi,

I had several questions about the "group tweak" process after this group buy.  On DIYAUDIO, there are several threads discussing hot Roding this module.  My idea is after the buy, we can have a buy of different kinds of caps and try them out.  I can get BG and OSCON caps relatively cheaper, so it would be interesting to see which combination work the best (for each builder, that is. :-))

Sweet deal. Oh well, my 6 channels of UcD400s should be done soon. I'm looking forward to hearing them.

Hi Al,

"Sweet deal. Oh well, my 6 channels of UcD400s should be done soon. I'm looking forward to hearing them."

6 channels! I can use one for my Orion DIY speakers (whenever I get them done.) :-)

Unbelievable sound from these amps, I am still breaking in my set, using Hypex's HG power supply.  BTW, the sound seem to get sweeter everyday, they had dynamics, sound stage and details from day one, but this "sweetness" I didn't expect.

I did not have enough amps to do an active system correctly. So, I sold everything and made sure I started with amps that could be the foundation of future setups (active, HT, or whatever comes next). The Hypex UcD400 made the most sense.

I can relate with "whenever I get them done". The Orions are really sweet speakers. If I could have a second system just for music, I would be content with them. No DAH!

Hi,

Good news on this project:

I have asked to pre-drill the holes for the UcD modules, HG power supply and the transformers in the E100 chassis.

The UcD module will go on to the back panel; HG PS will be mounted on the floor, as well as the transformer.

These holes should make this even easier put together and have a "final consumer product" look to it. :-)

Bad news on the project:

The chassis won't be in NY till the week of 7/18.  So I won't start mailing till that week.

Last call.

For those who joined: I am placing orders later today, thank you for joining this group buy.  Let me get the kit out to you, have it run in for a while, and we can start our "group tweak".

If this works out, and it seems to be doing just that, would you consider doing a 5 or 7 channel amp group buy?

Hi Krister,

Future UcD projects:

1.  A 5 channel UcD180AD -- This is can fit inside our E130 chassis easily.  If you don't mind putting down a few holes, I can order and deliver quickly.

2.  A Mono Block UcD700 (when they come out) -- Using our new 10mm (Top and Floor, 4mm on sides) aluminum chassis, probably with a 1KVa transformer, and Hypex PS (or our own PS).

3.  A project for Orion builders - an E100 chassis for the Xover (maybe a simple power supply too, so won’t need that wall wart), and two E100 chassis for two 4 channel UcD180AD.

Ken,

"Using our new 10mm (Top and Floor, 4mm on sides) aluminum chassis"

Do you have a picture of this chassis?

Thanks

Hi,

Like to give a status report.

The Hypex parts are in, the transformers are being ship tomorrow, should be in on Weds.  The chassis are being ship via DHL from Taiwan this Friday -- but they are having some weather conditions there, so there might be some shipping congestion issue, will report back as soon as the chassis get on the plane.  I will ask for the balance for the kit once they are on the plane.

For the people that purchased only parts, I will be getting them ready to ship tomorrow, so please pay the balance of your bill today.
