« on: 23 Apr 2025, 03:58 pm »
First thread by me.

Is there any NX speaker here in Sweden? Would really like to hear a pair.

I don’t believe so, at least we have not sent any there.

I bet you can but I would realllllllllllyyy like to hear them first, don't get me wrong, I think they will be great after a couple of hundreds youtube reviews later. Did my research, but I'm also new to openbaffle. I do have a dedicated room for HiFi with nobody telling me what I can do and can't do. It's still a work in progress, so many aucostic panels are not in place yet.

My current speakers are Snell Type C IV, but my Von Schweikert VR-8 I hade a long time ago is still my best I have had but they didn't work in my livingroom before I got this dedicated room. We moved to a house with "bad" livingroom so I hade to sell the VR-8's....

The VR-8's were an easy load, 96db/1W and wonderful lowend.

You do need some representation in this part of the world.

The majority of Danny's USA customers don't hear his speakers before buying them, so your only disadvantage is shipping costs. Clearly, you've done your research, so what are you waiting for? Add a pair of subs, and it will be a substantial improvement over what you have now.

Good point but as I wrote I don't have ANY experience from openbaffle, nothing, quite a big leap.....

Don't know what Trump has done to the customs and "tariffs".....maybe they don't apply to Sweden with this kind of "material".

If you don’t like them you can sell them so it’s not a complete loss.

Yes but since there is no one else here that have them I'm worried it's going to be a hard sell....if I don't like them for any reason.

Well, since you’ll have a pair built, people can come listen to them and decide.

Another option would be to build a smaller speaker and make sure you like how Danny’s speakers sound and then move that smaller speaker to a different room when you make the OB speakers.  The NX—Bravo would be a good choice.

I did my research and the NX-Otica is my target. I do like smaller speakers on a stand, invisable without much work, but they need a good subsetup. The Oticas also need sub but not as much as the Bravos I think.

Let's put it this way.  I did show coverage for about 10 years back when Rocky Mountain Audio Fest was still going on.  In addition there's a thriving audio scene here in CO.  I've personally heard over 500 different pairs of speakers.  The NX-Oticas are top 5 of all the speakers I've heard.  They aren't just 'good for the money', they are elite, regardless of price.

You could always take a vacation to the US and visit some people with NX series speakers. There's plenty of people here who would open their home to a friendly guest.

As a side note, when I built my NX-Studios back in 2020, I had limited experience with true high quality speakers. They were a major extravagance for me then, but my only regret was not being them sooner. Your room looks primed and ready for a perfect OB setup. Pair it with a sealed sub or two for some kick drum kick, or a tower stack of Triple Threats for ultimate three dimensionality soundstage and you'll be one happy camper.

That would be a dream, following so many channels on YT that does that, visit real people in the US. Not ONE have any bad things to say....but to do that I need a plan.....and that is not my current "problem".

I'm 110% sure that both Danny and Ron would happily open their listening-rooms to me or any other audiofile that is interessted in sound.

My room is in "construction", I need a floor, plan for the ceeling, measure more with current setup to see what needs to be done with diffusion/absorbation/placement and gear.

It's a journey.....and I enjoy that more compare to the destination.......I'm a seeker

/J

EDIT: Uptil now EVERY part I have changed in the room/setup or gear have just elevated the sound, no discussion. My fear is when my first letdown comes.....and it will.....

Lol, I just figured you were going for ultimate diy ceiling diffusion styling with having the exposed beams.

There will probebly be a thin white fabric covering the "mess" in the ceeling and small boards where the lights are to fit the spotlights.

Good point. I need to see how this can be done, so much more than just order because the custums/tariffs/taxes.....

Thank You for your input, you might be on my tour if I come to the US in the future ;-)

I don't know how to use the gallery or systems in the forum so could you perhaps show your current setup?
