Don't you guys know yet?  This whole audition really isn't about AC filtration, it's a dubious attempt to get you all hooked on cigarettes!   Perhaps Joe Camel should be silk screened on the front panel!

I think it's the box and packing that smells like smoke now, so whenever you put the unit back in the box, it smells again.

A tall story! You are telling us the materials are impregnated with cigarette smoke? Just wait unto the tobacco companies hear about that one, they'll pay in refined uranium for that info. :P

BTW, forgot to mention one thing.  When I told my wife what was in the box, and how we were auditioning this unit, she said "you guys REALLY need help"

Randy

Now, where have I heard that one before? :P

Cheers,
DVV

OK.. I am done with my session with DeZorel. I'll post my review sometimes tomorrow. I'll pack the unit up tonight and will send it out  Brian S in Seattle.

Guess this means we'll find out what it does for video fairly shortly...

OK, here is my take on the Dezorel vs the Monster Cable HTS-2000 power condidion. Keep in mind that I'm not an expert and have limited experience with power condition.

Due to my busy schedule, I was only able to listen to the DeZorel for about 2 hours. The test session was conducted late at night after everyone in the family had gone to bed and probably it's the best time since most of the outside noise are non-existent.

Associated Equipment for this Review:
Source – Modded Sony SCD-775 SACD player
Interconnect – Groneberg from Odyssey Audio
Preamp – Odyssey Tempest
Amp – Odyssey Stratos Strereo
Speakers – Norh Marble 9.0
Speaker Cable – Zu Julian
Power Cords – Bolder Cable Type 1 AC Power Cord

Music selection:
“The look of Love” – Diana Krall – SACD
“Spain” – Michel Camilo & Tomatito
“Chameleon” - Badi Assad

Setup Configuration:
A) Preamp + Amp => Dezorel => Pass & Seymour outlet
    SACD player => HTS-2000 => Pass & Seymour outlet

B) All equipments are plugged into HTS-2000 => Pass & Seymour outlet

The Dezorel unit performed a lot better than I had expected in my system . Overall, The sound was cleaner and image was better defined than the HTS-2000. I could hear the individual instruments with new weight and authority. The piano was much clearer, the note just jumped out at you as I listened to “Spain” by Michel Camilo & Tomatito.  With the “Chameleon” by Badi Assad, the bass was much clearer and less hazy. Overall, the soundstage is deeper, not much but I can tell it's a little deeper than the HTS-2000.

I give a thump up for the Dezorel. The only weakness of this Dezorel is only two outputs (I'm aware of other model with more outputs but probably cost more $$).

Hey Dino,
That's good so far, but you're not gonna get off that easy; you've got more work to do.  :nono:

Aren't you going to try the digital into the Dezorel also, and bypass the HTS2000 completely, and then you need to tell us the difference between all your equipment with no filtering, and then with filtering. C'mon now! :-)

And do it earlier in the day when the electricity is not so clean...

Sorry Jerry, the unit is already on it way to Brian. :-)

I wish that I had some free time in my busy schedule to do some more testing.  But the short and abbreviated test already convinced me that the DeZorel unit is the clear winner over the HTS-2000. No need for further testing :-)

Jerry, I agree with your suggestions and would add some of my own, but hey, if Dino is happy with his test results, who are we to argue?

Good going Dino, thank you.

There will be no blame on anyone but me. I'm the the Rookie :-)

Jerry & DVV,
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to test out the Dezorel. I really appreciate.

Any of you guys interested in having your receptacles LN2 cryo'ed at NASA?  It's not a joke--NASA leases their facility when they're not using it!

I am serious about this group purchase.  A friend and I are sending at least 10 outlets.  If nobody here responds I'll just delete the post and move on...

Psychicanimal, I'd be interested, but I don't think it's worth your time for just one outlet from me. Thanks for the offer, though.

Jerry, I think someone like you should send *at least* two receptacles.  It is a dramatic improvement in sonics, perhaps the most cost effective one in audio.

I'm just helping get this going.  I believe it's a rare opportunity and should be taken advantage of...

It arrived on my porch not too long ago. Will start playing with it when it warms up a bit as it's damn cold. Looks like it survived UPS. But the shipping box is getting a bit worn out. I'll have to see if I can find a sturdier replacement when I ship it to OBF.

Any of you have suggestions on testing?

Note that this'll be tested in HT only. My system isn't optimized for 2ch, and I don't listen to any 2ch so I'm not familiar enough with my setup while running 2ch.

I can't run things on just the DeZorel as it takes a minimum of 6 outlets to run things. So it's either going to be 2 things running on the DeZorel & everything else on my Monster HTS-3500's, or everything on the DeZorel through the HTS-3500's.

I do have a 20A dedicated line running on 10/2 Romex with an Eagle 20A IG8300RN Hospital grade isolated ground industrial outlet. I've also got a 15A line that's shared with many things in the basement that's got a crappy $0.50 15A outlet on it. Don't know if the 15A shared circuit is on 14/2 or 12/2 Romex.

Plug only your DVD on the DeZorel.  Listen.  Next unplug DVD and hook up just your processor.  Listen.  Unplug processor and plug your TV/projector only.  Watch a movie.  Repeat as desired...

Don't forget to plug in a lamp and stare at that with and without the DeZorel.  Hours of fun.
