Is there any information about this release?  Is the vinyl from analog masters or digital masters?

Looks like one cannot go wrong with this reissue-- there is a quote i found on a major vinyl forum:

Hang onto your wallets, Led Zeppelin fans: 2014 promises to bring a mother lode of newly remastered and previously unreleased material, all spread out over a series of box sets devoted to each of the band’s albums.

Jimmy Page has been holed up in the studio poring over Zeppelin’s archives, and he recently revealed during an interview with TeamRock Radio (via Blabbermouth) that he’s by CM addon">completed[IMG] the remastering process — with a twist. “Each of the albums has been remastered but it also has a companion disc with it,” he explained. “Let’s take, for example, ‘Led Zeppelin III’ — that’s remastered from analog from the original thing. I know everybody does that, but what they don’t do: I revisited all the working mixes that were done at the time.”

What that means for fans, Page explained, is that each of the group’s original LPs will receive an exhaustively comprehensive upgrade. “There’s different versions,” he continued. “Say, for example, there’s ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You’ — there’s an incredible version of that which is totally different, it’s really raw in its approach, it’s quite dramatic, it’s cool. That’s one little item of it, but what it gives is a companion disc to ‘Led Zeppelin III.’ It’ll come out in its own box and all the rest of it. Each disc will give a really intimate picture of the group. That’s the idea that I’ve had with it and I think it’s successful.”

Saying that “the sonic side” of the project is finished, Page promised that each box set would be released separately in 2014. And as for those rumors of unreleased material? “Oh yeah,” he nodded, although he was reluctant to provide any information about the songs. “I can’t tell you,” he demurred when pressed for details. “It’s got to be a little bit of a surprise, I can’t give all the games away.”

there was also an ad in US today or some other major newspaper about a week ago.

I asked Michael Fremer and he said we don't know yet whether these will be cut from analog masters. "Mastered from original analog tapes" does not necessarily mean an all analog chain. He is trying to find out. He believes Jimmy started with the original tapes, but not clear what is/was used for cutting.

Thanks Laura.  It seems all to often the mastering is being done in the digital domain and then cut to vinyl to cash in on the resurgence of vinyl.  This is why I can't get enough of the Music Matters Jazz Blue Note release.  All analog, all the time.

Colour me sceptical but I'm not biting until we know how the 'remastering' actually sounds like.

Ordered LZ1 Deluxe set from Amoeba with 15% off code. Like the idea of bonus double live album. On the fence for LZ2  and doubt I will get LZ3.

Are these supposed to be limited editions?

granted-  I am thinking that 35-45 bucks for 2-3 180g LPs  is a fraction of what other  SEALED LZ releases would cost now. Just not sure if it is gonna be available for the money after the release when the sound quality is a public knowledge.  BTW, I am pretty skeptical myself about paying $100+ for a VG+ original RL copy. Do not mean to open a can of worms here, just saying.

The new content and Jimmy Page's direct involvement in the process makes it well worth it IMO.  Thanks for the heads-up on the 15% discount.

I was not questioning the content.  I am not interested in buying vinyl sourced from digital masters if there is a digital option.

Oh that RL Led Zepp II is fabulous! Well deserving of all the praise it gets.  Good copies can be found for less than $100 if you are patient.

It will certainly be worth following Analog Planet and Steve Hofffman threads to get impressions and details on these remasters. Based on digital releases, I get the impression that "remastered by Jimmy Page" may not be a good thing.

Time will tell.

Thank you, roscoeiii! if I decide to keep it, it would be cool to compare the reissue with the RL copy.

Got mine on pre-order from Elusive disc which is my go to place for vinyl with their 12% sales that come from time to time. Is Led Zeppelin 4 available though?

Best,
Anand.

I'm not familiar with Amazon since I buy mostly used and we don't have an Amazon.AU here in Aussieland.

Are you saying you can play it and then return it cos you 'don't like the mastering' ?
or receive it and return it unopened cos someone says it will sound bad ?

Physical return of LP from here runs to about $30+ so it wouldn't actually work from here anyway.

that is the plan in a worse case scenario meaning if guys from steve hoffman music forums or such bash it with a club.
i do not know if one can return an open LP -- would not make much sense to me.
