Hey peoples,

Hi Clint - thanks for the response!

Aggieland is College Station, proper. It is just shy of 3.5 hours (driving the speed limit) away from DFW International Airport. I do have family in Flower Mound (10 minutes North of DFW) so this could be a viable opportunity. Here are a couple of things I'm thinking about:

<snip>

If you truly do come to some sort of conclusion quickly and thus feel comfortable driving the AKSA North to DFW, great!  I'm sure it would be very much appreciated.  I also see no reason to differentiate between shipping money and gas money, but I can only speak for myself.

That said, by no means let me or the NTAJ talk you into shortening your audition period!  If you need or want your full time, please enjoy it!  I also have no desire to "cut in line" and deprive anyone else of their proper spot.  I asked simply on the off chance that you might be nearby.  (Of course, in TX a 3.5 hour drive is practically local!)

We still need to find a host first, and I haven't seen a strong response to that yet, so we have our own hurdle to clear yet.  Either way, let us know how your audition goes!

Edit: Driving the speed limit?  Isn't there a law against that in this state?

demo in DFW

Great response...3.5 hours in Texas IS just up the road! It's amazing really; I remember driving for 8 hours to go up to Utah, and I was still in Texas! My best trip to DFW thus far has been made in 2:15! I was on my motorcycle and it was early in the morning on New Year's Day. No traffic anywhere! It was great, but kinda freaky at the same time.

Yes, if this deal goes down, we do need a host. I can't exactly volunteer my brother's place without his permission...it would be kinda funny though...

I would still like to hear from Hugh and Occam, and make sure this would be ok. If it's at the end of my demo period anyway, I think I'd be just fine with it. We'll see.

Well.....
As BRJ said, Clint's time with the N+ is his own time. If someone from the Dallas/FW Jam wants to be put on the list to recieve the amp after Clint. they should PM Hugh.  If Clint wants to schlep the amp the distance (and stay awhiles), thats his call, and if not, the shipping isn't that slow or costly. [we New Yawkas have a different geographical perspecitve. If I've a good parking spot, I tell my wife to take a cab home from the airport...]

As it stands now, the amp will be routed from Canada to California, and then to Clint in Aggieland. If someone in the Dallas/FW area wants to step up to the plate to host a Jam, please PM Hugh.....

I'm cool with this plan;  Cpautsky can drive the amp north to DFW (though it might be difficult on a motorcycle.........).   :thumb:

Remember, first step to get the audition amp is to post to the thread, second step to Paul (Occam).  I'm standing upside down Downunder, so I don't see the US of A too well, and I'm only concerned that as many as possible get to hear it.

BRJ, I support your plan too.  Sounds fine to me!

Cheers,

Hugh

Hi JNorth,

The amp should be in transit from Boise, and it's even possible you have it?

Please let us know........  I'm still leery of Canada Customs

Cheers,

Hugh

Hugh,

J North has bowed out of the tour so the N+ will be sent to TL1000sv in California next. I've sent the pertinant info to TL1000sv and U4EA and they'll hopefully coordinate.

where in California are you?

Arrival

The amp has safely arrived in Sacramento.  The box is worse for wear but the amp is fine, save the rear panel bend previously mentioned.

Now back to the listening!

Tim,

Thanks for letting us know.   Can you describe the damage to the rear panel?  Is the packing box repairable and reusable?

Cheers,

Hugh

The rear panel bend presumably is as Occam acknowledged in a previous post.  It bows in under the top cover about 1/8", but prior to power-up, examination through the vents with a flashlight revealed nothing untoward.

The inner box and packing materials are fine.  I will replace the outer cardboard box, as it has probably seen as many road miles it its lifetime as I.

Tim,

I'm looking forward to your comments on the N+ and moreover hope your time with the N+ is enjoyable.

Indeed, it was the damage to the back panel and the previous destruction of the front switch [descrcibed by the carrier as no cost, physical testing] that promted the double boxing for shipment.
Your replacement of the tired outer box will be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Paul

Future plans for the AKSA
Hey everyone,
I've been thinking about the plan to the AKSA to the DFW metroplex and here's where I'm at:

1. Nobody has contacted me or volunteered for a receiving/demo place.
2. I will be traveling on the weekends for the next two and possibly 3 weeks (Feb 4-6, 11-13, and 18-21).

The travel plans are the big killer of this deal. If anyone has any other ideas, I'm open...

At this point, I think the best bet is to continue the amp along its assigned audition tour per Hugh's/Paul's schedule.  When someone from the DFW area can conveniently host the amp, they can sign up on the list and I'm sure a jam can be organized at that point.

Thanks for considering a drive North, though - it was a much appreciated offer!  Hopefully you can drop by a jam at some later date, with no gear required (but always welcome)!  :)

Of course, now that you've heard the AKSA, we do look forward to a review! :)

Paul (Occam), thank you remembering me.  I'll work with Chris (lonewolf) to arrange an audition.

Howdy all,
The amp has just left my hands and is on headed to NY. It should arrive next Wed or Thurs. Occam, if you would like the tracking number, send me a PM and I'll pass it on. Thank you for helping make this happen! My review will follow in the next few days...
